He's played in the back row as well, in that lock row. Now, so anyway, see, that's the – well, mate, coach is the boss. He's your employer. You do what he tells you to do. And for years, if a player dared do this, you'd be straight out the door.
What I find interesting about the whole situation, though, is – There's two new clubs coming into the competition. His manager, Isaac Moses, had a similar stunt last year with Lachlan Galvin where he caused a disruption at the club. And Dewey's never played better football than what he has this year, so you would correlate out of that that he's never been worth more. So that's my conspiracy theory. That's a good one. The fact that now – Brett Kamali spoke on radio last night and said that Dewey had held him to ransom before. When Kamali took over as an assistant, well, interim coach in 2022, he was there in the job. He named Dewey in the centres. Dewey was coming back from an ACL. I think he's done three ACLs.
He was coming back from an ACL, and the medical advice was – Playing him in the centers because that's what's best for his load. That if he moves closer to the middle, the increased work load will put increased stress through his recovering ACL and therefore could re-rupture his ACL tendon, right? Or ligament. So now anyway, but Kamali said when he told him he was going to keep him in the centers, Dewey said to him, mate, I'd rather play 5'8 in reserve grade than lock in first grade. And Kamali was a rookie coach. He was just interim. He was his first climb in the big chair, so to speak. Didn't quite know how to handle it. So he went to the guy who was running the football operation, who was Tim Sheens at the time, and went to him for advice.
