And, Kenty, we're here and we're talking about the Tigers again because this morning there was a press conference with Benji and Dooley. And what did you think about that? I think we'll try and get through this as quick as we can first of all because obviously I'm a bit like everyone else. I'm a bit sort of Tiger fatigued at the moment. But it is certainly the most newsworthy thing that's happening in rugby league at the moment. I think both Benji and Dooley handled it well. Look, a couple of little grey areas here and there, a little bit fuzzy around the edges on a couple of things. In what ways? Take me through those. Oh, I just... Look, okay. So, look, I think Dewey was... very upfront and admitted he made some blues.
I liked the way he handled that. When he was pressed on specifics as far as what was wrong or what his gripe was, he said, look, I'll just keep that within the club. And I admire the fact he did that. Benji, Benji was pretty good as well. But Benji, and even acknowledge that he probably, he's still got work to do. But yeah, one thing I suppose, not to, I'm sitting here defending, trying to over defend what we said, but we did talk about players vaping at at the, uh, weight sessions. Well, coaches don't attend weight sessions. Uh, and if kids can vape at school, they can certainly sneak a vape in a gym, you know what I mean? They vape on the airplanes these days. Well, that's exactly it. Look, yeah, the fact is, look, it's not a big, it's not a big thing, uh, but it talks to culture within the club.
Yeah. Uh, there was also things like, uh, I found a little bit, he was asked about not contacting Dewey after the judiciary hearing. And he said, well, look, what you don't know is I had two sick kids who were on the verge of being hospitalised. which I thought, look, he didn't need to say that. But when he said that, I thought, oh, okay, there's some honesty from him. But then he immediately followed that up with, but I did try and contact him anyway. Well, if you didn't try to contact him anyway, say that and don't give us the kid's bit. You don't need to reinforce it. So to me, it just rang a little bit of damage control.

But I get that. Look, these sorts of things, blobs like this, are not uncommon in rugby league. They're not uncommon at clubs. The bit that made this such a, I suppose, a touch point for everyone was that Dewey didn't play and he refused to play, which basically, okay. Now, in the past, they could fake an injury. Look, he's had a hamstring twinge. Something's happened to the training or his shoulder's not quite right or something like that. But it just became very public very quickly. And on the back of that, they found themselves in an awful mess and had to try and get their way out of it. Now, whether they can recover from this and move forward, I actually believe they can. I don't think it's going to be an ongoing issue between Dewey and Benji.
I certainly don't think the way the players have responded to it, that they're going to walk around carrying a grudge. I know a lot of ex-players have spoken about that, but I think sometimes they talk through a little bit sort of rose-tinted glasses about the way it used to be. And the modern player, they've got the... Yeah, in many ways they've got the memory of the goldfish. They play footy that way, they make a mistake, they don't carry their divots, they just move on and off they go. And these sorts of things, same thing. I think the players, certainly the way they appear to train with each other, You can't really fake that. And I just think that they'll move on. And I think some of the things that Dewey did address to Benji, Benji, to his credit, acknowledged that there were some issues.
