What recent event highlights Jai Arrow's situation in the NRL?

Paul Crawley 0:01
Welcome to Keddie Blitch, your daily hit of NRL news, and Jai Arrow, good news for him, mate.
Paul Kent 0:07
Yeah, we'll start off with a bit of, on a big news day, mate, this is probably the best news. So, Jai Arrow got married last night, put the photos out on social media, and it's just, look, it's another chapter in his life. And I think everyone just had a moment where they just sat back and you could just feel pure happiness for the bloke. So, lovely to see. Obviously, he's got a big battle coming up. It's a big month for Jai and the NRL. That's called Jai July. There's a charity set up with every try being scored where they celebrate that by shooting an arrow. And then money goes to Jai for his fight against motor neurone disease. So, And what's already a big month, that news last night I thought was terrific, that he's gone out and got married, and then obviously this Sunday is a big day, it's his birthday on Sunday, and they're celebrating with a big fundraiser when the Rabbitohs and the Knights play each other.
Paul Crawley 1:06
I was having a talk to his old man recently at one of the footy functions, and he was telling me how... was a rough nut in his day, as you can imagine. I've had a beer with his dad. I like his dad. He's a good fellow. But he was telling me that Jai would have been playing with this disease in his body for probably the last couple of seasons.
Paul Kent 1:26
Yeah, it's extraordinary, isn't it? Extraordinary. And the fact that – look, it only came out because he was starting to struggle in the gym. He just couldn't find strength in that left arm. And I remember hearing reports, obviously, that they thought it might have been nerve damage and all the rest of it. So the fact that he's been able to battle through that, continue playing – And he got South's Player of the Year last year. Yeah, magnificent. So well done to Jai. And obviously as a Rugby League fan, which we all are, anybody that can get out and help this month with Jai July and the fundraising that's going on, obviously it's greatly appreciated.

The NRL TV deal done and dusted.
Paul Kent 2:04
It's done and dusted. What it means, I've got no idea. I've read 10 different stories and I'm still to work out what it means. Look, we're going to try and break it down for everybody to give them a bit of an understanding of what it is and what it means. That said... While a big deal has been made about the $5.3 billion and how it's basically catapulted the AFL deal out of the water and all the rest of it, there's a lot of detail in there that we don't know. There's a lot of how the competition is going to look that we don't know. There's going to be some subtle changes around the game that we're all still figuring out. From a stand-back perspective, broad perspective, it's going to look pretty much the same.
Paul Kent 2:49
You're still going to watch Friday night and Sundays and Thursdays on Channel 9 and Fox. And then you'll be able to watch the other five games on Fox. And as the competition grows from the, what is it now, eight games a week to 10 games a week, which it appears it will be in 2029 with 20 teams playing in the competition, those extra games will be on Fox only. They won't be on Channel 9 as well on free-to-air. So there's a lot to sort of unpack in all this and to really sort of determine where it is. We didn't get a lot of detail. I suppose that'll all come out. And what has come out so far, so far what I've read, anyway, I don't know about you, it's been quite confusing.
Paul Crawley 3:31
It is confusing. And I'd imagine, Kenny, too, that they've got the CBA where they've got to work out the deal with the players' union and what they agree on. And this will be done post-Andrew Abdo's exit from the game where the Landys will have to sit down and try and nut out a deal with Clint Newton that everyone is happy about. Because at the end of the day, you can't go through a season without buys because teams need buys. So it's trying to factor in the extra team this year, the extra two teams the year after. And on it goes.
Paul Kent 4:05
Well, look, one of the things I did pick up today is next year we go to an even amount of teams.
