What is the opening introduction and format of the men’s preview show?

Six Pack Lapadat 0:02
And welcome back. We got the men's preview show. We're gonna do this a stitch out of order because Rory and Amelia, the time zones are not friendly where you are at the your sides of the world. So we're gonna kick it off. Uh I think we're gonna do 66 is Rory, 74 is Amelia, 120 plus is Rory. And then and then the gentlemen take over and um and the latter half of the show is gonna get a lot better. All right. So Rory

Which lifters are highlighted in the 66 kg class analysis?

Six Pack Lapadat 0:30
Let's talk about the sixty sixes.
Rory Lynch 0:33
All right. Um I think I'm gonna summarize the top four of the sixty-sixes. Um I think I see the uh those there being a sort of a little bit of a battle here for second, third, and potentially fourth as well. Um so I I I I'm gonna have Austin Nikolai. I actually think he's probably in more of podium contention than he looks like on paper. Um he His best or his nominated total is 710, which is obviously quite a way behind um sort of first first place here. Um, but his training has been looking quite good. Um he did a 67 uh sorry, a 267.5 kilo squat recently that was incredibly fast. I think it was high. Um it wasn't the uh the easiest squat to tell the depth from, but I I would say it was probably high. Um but it also did not look anywhere near
Rory Lynch 1:27
two point five kilos under his best ever squat. Um obviously the last thirty millimeters of a squat are the hardest thirty millimeters and sort of um sort of damps the top end when you um do take it to full depth. But um That's a really, really good sign. The other thing that I saw from Austin Nicolai recently was a fantastic 290 deadlift. Um, it was the kind of speed where if somebody sent that to me as a meet day coach, I would be thinking that that was a reasonable opener. Now, obviously that doesn't necessarily mean that he can then go and add a thirty kilos onto his deadlift from there, though that would be a that would be a good sign. Um, but he does, you know. That that that does mean that his deadlift does seem to be improving.
Rory Lynch 2:08
The other thing is he does have a really good hit rate. Um last five meets, hundred percent on squats, ninety-three percent on bench, a little bit lower on deadlifts, eighty percent on deadlifts, um but but really good on on a sub total there. Um nominated in third, but I actually think he's gonna probably gonna fall off the podium here is Kyoto Ushiyama. Um, best total 725. Um Unfortunately, and I think this is the real thing that's sort of gonna sort of gonna drag him down here, is his hit rate is very, very poor. Um so good on squat, good on bench, um forty seven percent on deadlifts, and he's never made a third deadlift. Um or sorry, hasn't hasn't made a third deadlift in at least five meets. Um so
Rory Lynch 2:48
In terms of pulling for position, in terms of like the jostling that happens at the end of a meet, um, obviously having a big subtotal, really important. Um, being able to put up a big deadlift is important. And in particular, your third deadlift is sort of like the key lift because that's the one where you get to make some changes. You get to see what the actual number needs to be for you to get the position that you want to get. And so he does have a bigger deadlift than Austin Nikolai. Um sorry, Austin, I think I think Austin Nikolai is likely to bump Kyoto Oshiyame off the uh off the podium here. He does actually have a bigger deadlift. when it connects, it doesn't connect very often. Um Second nomination is Joe Jordan.
Rory Lynch 3:30
And I think he's gonna finish in second, but I think he's actually gonna finish quite tight behind Shell. Um so type shell. I think I tighter tighter than it looks on paper for sure. Um whoa. Um so 732 point five kilo uh uh nominated total. Um that was with a two sixty squat. He's done two seventy in training. Um that's with a two ninety seven point five kilo deadlift. He's done a three twenty in training, albeit with straps. Um his he hasn't said anything specifically about his body weight recently. Um but historically he sort of floated around that seventy to seventy one kilo mark. Um he does seem to handle that cut really, really well. So his nominated total is 732.5.
