Chapter 1: What is discussed at the start of this section?
This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed human.
Good people, what's up, what's up? It's Questlove. So recently I had the incredible opportunity to have a real conversation with actress and producer Jamie Lee Curtis from Routines to Recovery, True Lies, and a certain Jermaine Jackson music video. Jamie's real and raw, and it's something I really admire about her.
I am so happy that I'm the head in charge at 67, that I have the perspective that I have at my age to really be able to put all of this into context.

In 2023, Bachelor star Clayton Eckerd was accused of fathering twins, but the pregnancy appeared to be a hoax. You doctored this particular test twice, Ms. Owens, correct?
I doctored the test once. It took an army of internet detectives to uncover a disturbing pattern. Two more men who'd been through the same thing.

Chapter 2: What record did SGA break during the game?
It's the portrait of an all-time player being drawn in real time. There's a bar right there. And it's true, man. What he's doing and what he's putting together, especially if they can go back-to-back and he has another finals MVP... Look, his name starts going up and up and up the all-time ranks. Too early to, like, get him anywhere right now on any sort of list, but on his way.
I think the most important thing is he's become more efficient as these games have gone on. This is the most efficient season of his career, by far. His true shooting percentage is up to 67%. That's a good chunk better than last year's at 63% or so. So that's a big jump over the last couple of years. So he's become more consistent. He does drop the bars there.
What he is is consistent, and that's entirely true. Super efficient. The efficiency numbers, as Trey mentioned there from last night, you could see it out there on the floor, but he's literally gotten better at it. Let's talk about the other big game from last night. Nuggets coming back from 20 down to beat the Spurs, 136-131. No Wemba Nyama, Trey.
Looked like they were still going to roll to victory, and then here comes Jamal Murray and Jokic. Yeah, they had huge games, 31-20-12 for Nikola Jokic. That's a lot of roast beef. That's a lot of taco meat. And a triple-double for him. And Jamal Murray might have even been better. 39 points. He had seven assists as well. Those two were basically setting up everything for the Nuggets in this game.
But what stuck out to me the most was the bench for Denver was pretty bad in the first half. I think that that is how San Antonio built their lead with Valanchunas out there. So the Nuggets get a little bit, they go down by 18 or so. Nuggets get back into it, but then get stretched out again in the third quarter on the starters that time.
But in the second half, it was small ball for the Denver Nuggets. Valanchunas didn't come off the bench. Jamal Murray was just picking on Mason Plumlee. Everybody was surprised to see that, yes, he plays occasionally. Yeah, number 45, Plumlee. Wemby's sitting, so Cornette's starting, Plumlee coming off the bench, and it was just put this guy in a pick-and-roll every single time.
And Jamal Murray had his choice of, am I going to find a wide-open shooter because Plumlee's too slow on the closeouts, or am I going to be able to get to the lane or shoot a little jumper over him? So I thought that was key for... the Denver Nuggets. Valanchunas has been playing less and less for this team.
At this point, they're really only going to use him for like power matchups, a team like the Houston Rockets, where he played a significant amount of minutes. So a short bench for the Nuggets. I think in the second half, they only played three guys and that was three minutes for Strother, five minutes for Tim Hardaway. It was the starters that ultimately won them the game.
But that move by Adelman in the second half, I thought was key to them getting back into things and getting on a roll going into the fourth quarter.

Chapter 3: How did the Nuggets come back to win against the Spurs?
Sure.
Yeah, sure.
I would agree.
I agree with that. Too long. Let's go to best actor. Back to the NBA Oscars. This means best player this season. Yeah, we don't have to go beyond the actual definition of the best actor. It's Shea Gildas Alexander because, yeah, we don't have to get it twisted. It is about the entire team. It's about the entire movie. It's about the entire production.
This guy leads the best National Basketball Association team. And right now it ain't that close. Wouldn't that be best casting? Best casting. New award. Yeah, sure, sure, sure. Well, he leads his cast very much. I mean, plus 10.8 net rating beats the next team by, you know, like four points. And that's important. You know, that's like 37% better than your next team. So numbers suck sometimes.
But in this case, I think it is important for a guy who's played the most, leads the best team, done and done. Okay, SGA. Who else do you have as a nominee, and who's your winner? For me, the top three nominees are SGA, Jokic, and Wemby. Me too. I think Shekel, just Alexander, clearly has the best team and the best built team around him, like we've talked about.
They've had starters out for the majority of the season, and they're still... able to have a three-game lead on best record in the NBA. He's hit so many clutch shots. He's given you 20 points automatically every single night. Usually it's more like 30. And he's contributing enough defensively that I put him ahead of Jokic and Wemby. And I think it's...
very reasonable and worthy that people are considering him the best player in the league right now because it feels like he's going to make every single shot that comes off his fingers he's shooting 55 and the majority of his shots are jumpers either in the mid-range or three pointers when it comes down uh to clutch time so for me SGA best actor this season okay
And you've talked recently, Trey, about, you know, his one weakness was maybe the three ball, and now it's like his superpower. He's nice at it. Like, oh my God. Yeah, he shoots a good percentage, you know, 38%. Doesn't take a high volume like some of the other guys, but in a clutch situation, he can get that shot anytime he wants. That huge step back and his hits. How many, you know, big shots.

Chapter 4: How is the NBA adapting to younger audiences?
So that was one of the many, many, like we said, There's so many. The NBA is also doing a very good job of adapting to kids watching the game. They're just doing so much better at game packaging. I'll do a segment on game packaging. They're just doing such a way better job of giving fans what they want, how they want it. And there's so many clips.
Chapter 5: What are the highlights of recent NBA plays?
Like, Wemby's been dunked on. Jalen Dern's got dunked on Wemby. I thought that was... I was going to say, we could have an entire category just for Wemby, if we're being completely honest. He has like seven plays where you're like, I've never seen somebody do that. Zion's got a nice tip dunk on Wemby, which is cool. I'd also throw in the mix Bam Adebayo dunking on Khalil Ware.
Yes I think I know it's more recent but Anthony Edwards two-hand dunk on the Raptors and RJ Barrett Yeah, I mean, I just love a two-hand dunk like that I immediately think of Latrell Sprewell and it looks awesome and it looked like Jordan as I said at the time And then one more for you somebody tell me the distance from the opposite end free throw line to the other basket How long is that 80 feet?
Chapter 6: What are the nominees for Worst of the Week?
Is that about 80 feet? 94 minus 15.
Yeah, okay. 79?
94 is all the way to the baseline.
If we're getting technical, the Harden Pass.
The James Harden alley-oop to Evan Mobley. So good. I mean, that's pretty unreal. And I know Jokic has done one of those before, throwing it basically that distance. That's very, very far. You just do not see that all that often. So that's another one. I'm giving it to Anthony Black on the four grizzlies. That's my pick there. Helped out by the photo.
But hey, a poster can sometimes sell a movie, man. I'm intrigued. I'm like, what's going on in that begonia poster? What the hell is that?

Chapter 7: What are the final thoughts on the NBA Oscars and upcoming games?
I'm going to watch that movie. I'm going to watch that movie. All right, so your winners. Yeah, my winner is Diabate versus Durin, and the stream team winner appears to be the Jokic death stare against Lou Dort. Wow. I mean, the way his eyes bulge is very who's framing Roger Rabbit, or who framed Roger Rabbit. Jokic, man. He can sell a movie. When he wants to.
When he wants to get mad, he gets mad. And so, yeah. He looks different. And then who's your pick, ultimately? Best highlight? Best highlight? Yeah, Wiggy. Give me Wiggy's. Okay, yeah. Yeah, an inbound buzzer beater in overtime. Just writes itself. There it is. Those are our NBA Oscars. Always love doing this. Hope you enjoy the actual Oscars on Sunday.
I'm sure we'll talk a little on Monday about some of the results. In fact, you know what? We're carving 10 minutes out right now to talk about them. I'm actually excited to watch this series having seen a lot of these movies and having this a nice little battle here between these two teams two teams One battle that's right one battle two movies. I haven't watched an Oscars in like 20 years.
Yeah Are you know you know you won't know okay? I need to see golden live. I'm sorry I Oh, Huntrix is performing.
Come on, man.
That's interesting. Okay. Okay, Huntrix. And what's the name of the song from Sinners, which I actually love? I Lied to You?
You Lied to Me. You Lied to Me. Yeah, that's a good song.
He's performing. So that's pretty cool.
Miles, is that the guy's name?
