What trades did the Oilers make during NHL Trade Deadline week?

Bob Stauffer 0:00
hey it's bob stoffer i just wanted to let you know that you can listen to oilers now ad free on amazon music included with prime all right welcome back everybody it's 4 35 in oil country bob stoffer in ice district you can text us on the ashley fine florist text line it's 4 35 of course this is really nhl trade deadline week the oilers adding connor murphy on monday for a second round draft choice chicago retaining um Half of the money on Connor Murphy. Let's go to some text. Josh has texted us to say, I like Nick Waugh a lot more than I like Scott Lawton. And if I'm reading between the lines of what you're saying, what about Manjapani and a 27 first for McMahon and Lawton? Would rather have Waugh be a part of that deal, says Josh.
Bob Stauffer 0:52
I think Toronto could get more than that. I'm going to be honest with you. You've got to understand, at this stage, Maja Pani carries negative trade equity. Okay. Another one. Bob, if there's a first on the table for Lawton McMahon, there would not be a smart move for Edmonton Lawton. Trade for Toronto was bad, and he's a fourth liner. Nothing more than that. Okay. Keep texting us on the Ashley Fine Forest text line. Listening to... All the way from Revelstoke is Darcy. Hello, Darcy. And he's a big fan of the Paul Coffey hire as well. And the order is, of course, getting Connor Murphy. Sonny in Vancouver says, Bob, if Evan Bouchard finishes top six or sorry, top 10 or even top six in scoring for the NHL, does that help his cause for the Norris?
Bob Stauffer 1:45
Absolutely. I mean, I think Evan Bouchard is probably in the four hole right now. Texter has said, Bob, I'm hearing Colton Pareko could be available. Sure hope the owners would be interested. They would be interested. The problem is the cap. They can't take on a $6 million player with several multiple years term left. I just don't see that happening. Again, Pareko weighing an opportunity to go to shuffle off to Buffalo. Keep Texas at 780-451-8800. And I know I've mentioned Waugh.

How are listeners reacting to proposed player swaps (Waugh, Lawton, McMahon)?

Bob Stauffer 2:22
To me, that's the longest shot. And again, I would think that on the heels of the Connor Murphy trade, my thought process was Edmonton was probably going to have to move Majapahni with a decent draft pick just to get out of that contract and then to move a couple more draft picks to maybe get a top nine winger or best case scenario center. are you just better off moving to 2027 number one to address a couple areas of need or maybe one area need and taking a flyer on somebody and conversely getting manjapani out to open up the cap space time will tell and you're going to need a team that's got retention spots as well keep that in mind but it's not afraid to use them like it's got to be a team that's got some money so

We're all set to go. The Edmonton Oilers host the Ottawa Senators. And now to Dylan Cousins. A shot. Scores. Dylan Cousins came in and he goes high to the glove side and makes it 1-0 for the Senators. To Ekholm. He'll go to the net. The shot. Saved by Allmark. The puck jammed loose. Comes in front.
Scores!
Unknown 4:07
Leon Dreisaitl!

Stutzel on the right, comes across, Bathurston, shot, scores! Drake Bathurston off the left wing. Dreisaitl in front of the goal, scores! A big shot by Dreisaitl! Over to the left wing, in front of the net, scores. His pass to Bathurston coming off the back door. As Eller was in there, a loose puck out front, the shot scores.
Bob Stauffer 4:32
Stashny was held on the play. He was going for a puck. He couldn't induce the call. Amadio with the goals that came to him in the slot. Edmonton can't get a call. Ottawa all over the Oilers. Two quick ones here in the third.
