Sitting in for Bob Stauffer this afternoon, who's down in Orange County getting ready for tomorrow night's matchup between the Ducks and the Oilers. And we'll get to Bob in a couple of moments. It's the Honda Center. But nonetheless, it's the Oilers and Ducks tomorrow night. Joining us right now from Orange County is Bob Stauffer.
How you doing? Not bad, Bryn. Thank you for filling in once again. How are you doing? Great. You know, we've had a few texts from people saying, okay, so Bakersfield's situation is now what it is. When are we going to see some call-ups? What's the team going to do? But nothing so far, but are we getting close, do you think?
Well, Alec Regula was at Edmonton yesterday because he walked right past me. And I think people are mostly asking about a guy like Isaac Howard. So let's just see what happens here. I know Max Jones has started skating and if there's a chance that he could potentially return second round, but he wouldn't impact the first round. I have no update at this time on Adam Henrique. But I think really for the Oilers, it's about what they got right now, the here and now, and it's about winning one game, which is tomorrow night here in Anaheim. And obviously last night, you know, the Oilers came out and had a dominant first 10 minutes, scored in three goals. I think that Lukasz Dostal, he fought the puck a bit.
He mishandled a couple. You know what happened last night? Emerson kind of played the way Florida and Carolina play. Yeah. which is just simple, hard, direct in the first half of the game and gain control of the game. And I admit they kind of hung on as the game wore on, but they had a three-goal separation. So a lot of good things happened, but it's just one win. They need three to win this series, and they can only play one game at a time. And so tomorrow's a big night, obviously.
Speaking of good things happening, as has been pointed out numerous times on this show so far, that fourth goal was Bouchard to McDavid to Dreisaitl on a typical play we see all the time on the power play. That's making a lot of fans feel better about things. How's your take on that one?
Brent, I think that the best four periods that Connor McDavid has played in this series have been the last four periods. I mean, I'm not going to include the overtime because he barely got out there. I think he had one shift. I think he's starting to move a little bit better. I mean, he blocked a shot against Colorado, blocked a couple other shots, almost looked like he hyperextended his knee at one point early in the series against Anaheim. So I liked what we saw specifically out of him. In Bouchard's case, you know, I know they were waxing poetica about him on the hockey night panel. And all I can say is I've been watching this for years with him and his ability to make plays under pressure. And he tends to get better.
What are the potential call-ups from Bakersfield for the Oilers?
But if your point is, Bob, the Ducks stars who maybe outplayed Edmonton stars, I think we exclude Dreisaitl because he played pretty well. His line had played well. And, yeah, it's a good sign that specifically McDavid and Bouchard here over the last three games have started to get going offensively. And, you know, Evan's got seven points and Connor's got six in the last three games. They need those guys to be productive. The irony, of course, is the orders may have another guy driving his line that I don't think anybody thought would have been the case a year ago. And that's Vasilipa Colson. I mean, he's probably been the Oilers' best player in this series.
