Hey, good afternoon, everybody. It's a Friday. And look at that forecast for the weekend. Beautiful. Not really, but you're with us for the next two hours. It's Oilers Now. I'm sitting in for Bob today. Bob obviously just You know, getting ready because he absorbs this draft like a sponge. Well, I don't have to tell you. You listen. You know Bob knows everything and everybody. And there's a reason for that because he is an aggressive... learner and he just cannot get enough information so he's going to join us on the show today we'll tell you about that coming up in a moment but looking very much forward to it but welcome to Oilers now and on the big show today well in a couple seconds we're going to talk to Aiden Ganim who's a little shaky but man what a great job he's done here today Bob's going to join us at 4 35 this afternoon give us his take on what he expects will happen for the Edmonton Oilers over this draft
Obviously, they're not selecting in the first round because as we've been saying numerous times today, you know, they're in their Stanley Cup window and generally teams that are going for it, I'll use my quotey fingers, they don't always hang on to those first round picks because they're looking to stack the lineup. The Oilers are the only Canadian team that does not have a selection in the first round at last report. And I say that because I know that we are about an hour and 10 minutes away from the first selection, and now we're getting into what I call the weird hour because I've been to three NHL drafts working for the Edmonton Oilers, and I will tell you that the amount of discussion at the tables is intense.
It's one of those last-minute check things. You know what we talked about earlier? What do you figure? No, we're just going to stay with what you know. That's the kind of stuff that goes on frequently, and some general managers are really interested in what's in the lunch, the lunch bag. for later on is, you know, it's all this excitement for your one pick, and then you've got to sit there for maybe two hours waiting for all the other teams to go through there. So the entertainment factor, there was a video out a couple of years ago of Bill Guerin, who was given the food kid. They always line up a real young fan of hockey to work alongside the teams. And Billy was riding this one kid, just having fun with him about sandwiches.
If you ever get a chance to go to YouTube, type in Bill Guerin kid sandwiches draft and it will pop up and you'll be entertained. And you also have to know Billy. That's Bill Guerin. But anyway, it's a fun event. But like I said, when you're working for a team, it's a lot of excitement in a short span of time. And then you kind of sit there and wonder who's going, who's next, what are we looking at, that kind of thing. But we're going to talk a lot about that with Bob. Coming up after 5 o'clock this afternoon, Brian Burke is going to join us. I'm really excited about talking to Burke today. Well, I generally am, but today we get a chance to talk to a Hockey Hall of Famer coming up in the month of November as he has been touched.
They said, you know what, we'd like you in the hall and you're not going to have to pay your way in. And so we're going to talk to Burke and, of course, NHL executive, player agent at one time. He's done it all. Stanley Cup winner, and he's brought to you by Ultrashine. So we're going to talk to Brian at 5.05. One other thing on Berkey. We want you to text in some questions for him today. I could do the interview, but I think it might be kind of fun if you did it on the Ashley Fine Floors text line today. And we'll pull maybe about six or seven questions. I know the direction I want to go. I want to talk to Berkey about the Hockey Hall of Fame. I also want to talk to him about his experience with the draft.
I mean, 1999, I was in Boston for that one, and everybody knew something was coming down.
