Did I see this right? Were you doing a little bit of work on the World Cup with German television?
I was, Bob. Yeah, thanks for having me, first of all. Yeah, it worked out really well. The German team played a game here in Toronto. So, yeah, just hopped over and did a little pregame talk.
um and yeah it was great it was a great day obviously a big win at the end yeah uh tough day for canada yesterday i mean i think canada's starting to come along here but we've discussed this before my first cognitive memory of a world cup and i'm going to date myself but i'm as you know your dad's age uh was watching germany beat Holland in the 74 World Cup, and I loved Johan Cruyff, and Gerd Müller scored a couple goals. And I remember the 82 World Cup in Germany, West Germany played a game against France. I mean, there's really no way to sort of, and I know you're considered amongst the best athletes in your entire country, but European football, soccer is its own here. It does cast a massive shadow over the world, doesn't it?
Yeah, I think so. I think in a way it's comparable to just how much hockey means in Canada, right? Like you see people grow up, you see kids, they just naturally go to hockey games. They naturally go to soccer, sorry, to Oilers games. And that's the same back home. You know, soccer is just such a big deal. It's part of the life. It's part of the every weekend life. get-togethers and and all those kind of things so um it's a major major uh part in in a lot of people's lives and and i mean i think you can see you know there's a lot of a lot of videos circulating of fans you know the scottish fans in boston you know the german fans and and all those countries that travel well and just And, you know, this is their time to shine.

All right, Leon, look, we haven't seen each other since the exit interviews with the media, which was back on Saturday, May the 2nd. And, you know, by the way, I thought you were very eloquent that day. You did a great job of... being open and expressing your feelings and, frankly, your concerns. And you said, hey, we have two years here. There have been substantive changes. The organization made a decision to move on from Chris Knobloch.
