So there's all of that. Hey, uh time to talk about the Edmonton Oil Kings who are about ready to head off on a Saskatchewan road swing. Three games coming up. And uh time to talk to the general manager of the team. Very excited to bring on board. Uh guy we've talked to a few times on this show, Kurt Hill. Hello, Kurt. How you doing? Doing well. How you doing? Fine, thank you. So uh Swift Current, Regina and Moose Jaw coming up. Let's uh let's talk about This road trip. Uh what do you expect out of the boys? It's Swift Current tomorrow and then into Regina to take on the Pats on Friday and then into Moose Jaw. My old stomping grounds coming up on Saturday night to take on the Warriors. Uh you never know what you're gonna get when you're doing a swing through Saskatchewan, Kurt.
No, you certainly don't. And you know, I'm expecting you know, I'm expecting a good trip from the guys. We kind of on Saturday, uh, we'd been playing pretty good hockey since Christmas. So we were six two and one, you know, in nine games and sixteen nights and yeah, Saturday was a bit of a stinker for us, so I'm expecting them them to rebound. And again, I you know, I know our coaches have been reiterating with the guys, it's uh it's a very important trip for must. We're playing three teams behind us in the standing, so it's uh you know, if we're gonna want to keep pace with uh the big teams on our side, we're gonna have to make sure that we're uh, you know, taking care of business and getting some wins on this trip.
Gotta ask what happened. So you you lose six one to Madison Hatter, it's just one of
those nights? Yeah, you know, we've been playing really well. I was kinda just you know, credit to them. They're a great team. They played well and uh you know, we kinda got caught behind the game early. We gave up a couple of shorthanded goals and uh yeah, it just seemed like we were kind of chasing it all uh chasing it the rest of the night and you know, maybe just a little bit of the schedule and uh the amount of games we had playing caught up with us a bit. But uh yeah, I expect uh expect to bounce back here this week.
Hey, you know what? I I've watched the Western Hockey League for a real long time. I can't remember two teams playing each other three almost like well, three consecutive nights uh against Lethbridge. That that's pretty crazy, huh?
It certainly is. You know, when we were doing the scheduling, uh well Peter Anholt and Lethbridge has been around a lot in the league a lot longer than I have and usually this is these types of things happened in uh, you know, the early nineties in the scheduling. So he's like, it's certainly uh but you know what? Sometimes you just run out of dates and uh weekend dates are so important in junior hockey and uh we kind of did it to help each other out and uh you know what, it was it ended up being pretty good weekend for both teams, I think, in a sense. I mean for from us from a point perspective on how we played and you know uh uh fortunately there weren't too many uh injuries or anything that weekend on either side.
