He understands team, and he understands the importance of having physicality and a little bit of intimidation in sport. Maybe that segment isn't for you. So, I don't know. You can listen to something else. If you're a person that sat there and watched any of the highlights in last night's Tampa Bay game against Florida, you can figure out what John Cooper did this year at the Tampa Bay Lightning.
They were sick of Florida's crap, okay? And look, the Panthers are the two-time Stanley Cup champions. They went to three consecutive championships. You talk to people in Boston and Tampa, they talk about how it appears as though Florida tends to get the benefit of the doubt on some calls and suspensions and that sort of thing. And Tampa, obviously because of the Gregory Campbell and Colin Campbell connection, I don't think it played a factor in the Stanley Cup final, other than the fact that Evander Kane was taken out of two straight Stanley Cup finals fairly easy, early in the series, both years. Evander was playing hurt, certainly in 2024. But Tampa Bay went down a different path. The path, frankly, I would go down.
Okay? And that is you protect your stars. And last night, Florida was at it again. Runaway game, 4-0 in the game. And Nikita Kucherov from behind, cross-checked by Nikita Nikitin. Nikitin goes off. And Matthew Kachuk skates right over and cross-checks Kucherov again. And Morneville's Brandon Hagel said, enough's enough tonight. He goes, I'll be your huckleberry. And grabbed Matthew Kachuk and beat the wheels out of him. Even though they're roughly the same size. And then... Nikitin had them cemented on when Curtis Douglas went after him. And guess who got the only fine from the game? Curtis Douglas from Tampa Bay. So there's a league that sits there and lets two separate guys take unimpeded cheap shots on one of the league's five best players.
And Tampa Bay has to settle matters themselves. But you know what? I'm going to guess that some of you don't have a problem with that. I'm going to guess that some of you think, hey, man, there's nothing wrong with a little bit of juice in games.
