loss yet it was pretty incredible that was you know what it's tough because what a game it was right that that was so entertaining from just the perspective of a hockey fan from the perspective of a canadian it stings an awful lot mac t you've got a really unique perspective on it from coaching to playing of course general manager what did you see out of the canadians in that 2-1 loss
Well, you hit the nail on the head when you talked about the entertainment value and just how good the game was. I mean, the real winner was the game of hockey. I mean, it's going to be hard to watch NHL hockey now after watching that. The game was played at such an incredibly high level with so much on the line. It was just... It was great. I'm down in the U.S. right now in Southern California. It is widely watched down here. You're going to grow the game from the casual fan. There was just so much drama and so much excitement. The Canadians didn't start all that well. I know the best stretch the U.S. had was early. Then we just took the game over. The story was Connor Hellebuck. He played incredibly well.
They're talking about the best save in the history of the game, uh, on, on, uh, caves with, with the paddle. And, uh, but we, we watched the game. We had a bunch of American people over and it was great. We had, uh, we had, uh, a great time. And, you know, once in a while you got to sprinkle one back. I mean, Canada has been pretty dominant in international best on best events for a long, long time. And, uh, We sprinkled one back to our neighbors to the south, but that's going to ultimately help the game. As for the players, they shouldn't feel one bit of embarrassment from the way that they played. They just laid it all on the line. The thing that was really amazing to me was just how quickly Connor –
you know there was some talk going in about who was the best player in the world and just how quickly he put all that talk to rest and he really grew right back into the exact same role he has with the edmonton oilers he had to take canada on his back and you know almost did it and uh you know he has that role obviously with the edmonton oilers too as well but
