We got knocked out just as we were about to tease the fact that we had twenty twenty-four first round pick Sam O'Reilly in the hopper. He's our with us now, headliner for Will Hawk Future gets the best you've ever tasted. And let's get to our sit down conversation with Sam. Sam O'Reilly. Sam since being drafted uh by the Edmonton Oilers uh in late June, uh take us through sort of the the whirlwind of what happens as you get ready for uh the rookie uh camp and rookie tournament.
Yeah. I think uh just a lot of training goes into it, the hard work during the during the summertime and summer skates and workouts and all that and then obviously going to London for a couple of weeks there, working with uh the guys there, summer skates there and I mean getting ready to come here and get into game shape. So played two preseason games in London and feeling good, so excited to get going.
I think the perception has always been uh and maybe some have joked about it, but London's always been a very professional uh junior hockey organization. They've never spared any expenses. The others have drafted it out of there and they've certainly uh you know, I think you're not I mean you're not the only first uh picked at the Otters to go to London this year. It's a thought process to what the hunters have going on and maybe how that helps players. Uh advanced lyric world.
I think the the way that they run it is a pro style and uh they set us up to kinda make it easier as you ease into these camps and stuff like that. So just the way they do things and they make you ready and they don't treat us like kids anymore and it just doesn't even really feel like junior in a way down there. It feels like it's more of a pro pro setup and just the way practices are and the schedule is. It's uh it's unreal and I'm I mean I couldn't be happier to be down there with uh learning from
