Ryan, it's always great to uh catch up with you down here in Nashville.
Uh special place, obviously, for you and this a special connection to the Edmonton Otters Hockey Club. I gotta ask you, as a guy who went through that run back at 06, obviously he watched, and it's a very different team and carrying forward. But what was it like to to sort of watch Edmonton go on a a major lengthy uh Stanley Cup pursuit last year?
Oh, it was excellent. It was unreal to see uh the team just gel together. Obviously they went I don't know what it was a thirteen or fourteen a row and and uh it was impressive to see that uh throughout the year and then it's kinda it reminds me back of oh six when we sort of after the deadline we started playing really well to get ourselves into the playoff picture and then obviously getting in so Um some s similarities from that s standpoint and then obviously uh Both teams losing in game seven was uh that was a heartbreaker, but you know They still got a lot of good pieces here. They got a lot of great uh uh depth. Um, so you know, it's just a matter of getting that chemistry together. Hopefully uh Moblock will get all that s situated and then the players will start to gel and find our way through.
I I think that's one of the biggest differences with all due respect to what happened to you guys is you lost Chris Bronger within days of you knew he was leaving and he was so critical to it was it was a different team. I mean you guys said under I remember having this conversation with Matt T and he'd look and the last person he thought he'd be hearing from was me, but I'm like, You're gonna beat Detroit. You're all wrong for Detroit. You're deeper than Detroit. You can roll over Detroit if you're physical. with them at all you might you know you're gonna beat them and I thought you guys had like the the fancy stats show that you had a better five on five team than people realized and then Roley came in and Pronger was so critical but you know pronger was gone conversely these guys since Darrell's own the team all of the top players have been signed long term yet again with Lee on drive saddle very different not to underscore what the guys in
the Evington investors group did, but it is a different time in that regard. The others have their star players still here.
Yeah, for sure. I mean you talk about uh you know Dry Seidel and obviously McDavid and and then the added other pieces behind that is so critical of getting them locked up and uh obviously the the salary cap's a lot different than than when we had it, but in saying that it's it's uh you got players uh on this group that haven't won a Stanley Cup that are eager to win.
