up. You guys are awesome, man. This is the Roz and Mocha Show podcast. Roz and Mocha's Fix My Life. Update. Adriana, hello, it's Roz and Mocha. Hi, you guys, good morning. Welcome back, Adriana, to Roz and Mocha's Fix My Life. Last time we talked to you was on Fix My Life in, like, October of 2023. I know.
Adriana 0:58
It's been a long time.
Roz Weston 0:59
So, Adriana, just to bring people up to speed here. So when you called us the first time, you said that you were a 27-year-old frustrated with the dating scene. You'd been on the apps. The quality has gone down significantly. Despite having a big group of friends, you were super shy to meet guys in person.

How did Adriana break out of her shell and find love after the 2023 Fix My Life episode?

Roz Weston 1:17
And you wanted some kind of like strategies on how to meet guys and how to navigate that kind of world, right? Right. And you were frustrated, right?
Adriana 1:26
Oh, I really was frustrated. I was at my breaking point.
Unknown 1:30
So when we talked to you back in 2023, what do you remember about that conversation? What do you remember about some of the advice that we gave?
Adriana 1:36
Well, basically that I had to not focus so much on, you know, how I had so many different types of music I like and books and stuff like that, that I have to focus more on myself and not put so much of a focus on that. And then I had to work on myself to get out of my shyness.
Unknown 1:51
And did you do that?
Adriana 1:52
Oh, yes, I did. How
Unknown 1:53
long did it take for you to kind of break out of your shell or out of your normal routine?
Adriana 1:58
I would say maybe a couple more months. I did a lot more, you know, focusing like, you know, where's this coming from? And, you know, just kind of breaking that fear that, you know, I don't need to be super shy. You know, I will meet a guy that will like me just the way I am. So I just need to continue being myself.
Roz Weston 2:14
So I want to read what you just wrote us today, which is, hey, Raz and Mocha, I was on the podcast, as we know, October 2023, as Mocha just said. For FML, fast forward to now, and you write, after two canceled flights to New York in a year, long story, me and my now boyfriend. Mm-hmm. And five friends all squished into a car and made the eight-hour drive to New York City. What an adventure. On the ride, we listened to the podcast I was on for Fix My Life with my boyfriend in the car. I met about eight months after the podcast. He's also a huge fan. While we were still seeing each other, he would quote the podcast I was on. Their advice really did help. So are you still with this guy? Yes.
Adriana 3:00
Yes, I am. You are. Well, congratulations.
Unknown 3:03
Success story.
Adriana 3:04
His name is Lucas, and he's a huge fan.
Unknown 3:06
Okay, yo, big up, Lucas. So how did you and Lucas meet?
Adriana 3:09
On the dating apps.
Unknown 3:10
Yeah, which one?
Adriana 3:12
Bumble.
Unknown 3:12
Yeah, okay.
Adriana 3:13
But honestly, it was also me changing because usually I'm used to rushing relationships and both of us took it very slow.
Unknown 3:20
Okay.

What advice helped Adriana’s listener overcome shyness and start dating?

Unknown 3:21
How, when you say slow, so you started chatting on the app and then how long until you met in person? Um, two weeks. Okay. And then after that, how long did it take for the relationship to develop into something where you were like, Hmm, maybe this, you know, this Lucas guy ain't so bad and I'm going to give it a shot. Um, a month and a half. Okay. And then is that when you started like officially dating?
Adriana 3:43
Yes.
Unknown 3:44
Okay. And what was Lucas's reaction to hearing you on the podcast?
Adriana 3:48
He honestly, it came out of nowhere. Basically, he was like, oh, you were on the podcast. I didn't expect him to go listen to the podcast and then quote it to me. Wow. I was like, oh, well, he's really interested.
Roz Weston 4:01
You're happy?
Adriana 4:02
Very, very happy. Yeah? And you're confident? Very confident.
Unknown 4:06
Good.
