We can use this time to get our ducks in a row and create a time capsule addressing this question. Which QB draft class is the best in the history of people? Ooh, good one, Dave. But what we've already seen from the 2024 class has them collectively in the conversation for history's greatest. John Elway, Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, also Champagne Tony Eason, who, for what it's worth, started Super Bowl XX for the Pats, and underrated Ken O'Brien, and also Todd Blackledge, who does not own one of the class's three gold jackets or 11 Super Bowl appearances.

At the moment at least, we can't rightly say any of these guys are busts, which would be a distinguishing quality compared with the other classes. Then again, how about 2020? Burrow, Herbert, Jordan Love, and early second rounder Jalen Hurts, he of the two Super Bowls and one Lombardi. Even the biggest flop of the early round group, Tua, can't rightly be called a bust, at least not yet. He's just gotten bonked on the head a little bit too much. And the 2018 guys, who seem ancient at this point, have maybe the best shot. Mayfield, Darnold, Josh Allen, Josh Rosen, Lamar Jackson. One Super Bowl appearance, one Lombardi, and three MVP trophies between them. Safe to say Allen and Lamar at least will get gold jackets, if not sizable bobbles.
But what if either of those guys does win a Super Bowl? Well, then I think it's game over for this whole debate. One thing seems clear. You better have that 83 class versus odd four class debate now, because I suspect it's going to be antiquated in about a half decade or so. Meantime, let's start the show.
