Well, and I think they're all big from the standpoint of that you're right in the middle of a stretch in your schedule that's not very easy. And the upcoming opponents are not very favorable, forgiving, whatever term you want to use it, because you've got, what, Cincinnati lying in wait, and then you've got two road games, one against the Eagles.
And the
Texans. Texans, which, by the way, they play pretty good defense still.
Yeah, we can talk a lot about the Texans, and we probably will at some point in time. We're talking about the Patriots here this evening on Jags HQ. They come in on the heels of a 20-3 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. And Jeff, which honestly, I don't know that I've seen a Steelers front. get handled like they did. In all the years that we've played the Pittsburgh Steelers, I don't know that I've seen them get beat like they did.
Well, they're playing good defense in New England right now. And that's their calling card. They've got some guys that can play pretty stout up there in the middle. And two linebackers played really well against Pittsburgh as well. And the outside guys are, I don't know if they're stars, but they were pretty productive.
James Gladstone is here. How are you? Life is good. Tony Buscelli. Great. So let's talk a little bit about the Patriots defensive front for just a moment. As Jeff just mentioned, Milton Williams and Christian Barmore pretty much make it go, don't they?
Yeah, I mean, obviously, as you look back to a year ago, what that group in particular looked like and added to in order to get them all the way to the Super Bowl was notable. They drove the ship on that front, but you got a back end that paired up with them pretty well, and now the highest paid corner included in that. And it's a good group from front to back. And obviously, it's going to present some challenges coming off the heels of this last week's game that we'll have to continue to find ways of improving and attacking.
I always like to kind of get your perspective on where guys are at. And the guy that's most notable in that back end is Christian Gonzalez. You talked about the highest paid corner in the league.
How do Tony Boselli and James Gladstone evaluate the Patriots’ defensive front and cornerback market?
I don't know what that number is, but it's pretty big, I'm sure. Who are the top corners in the league right now, in your opinion?
Yeah, we're coming off the heels of one and right into the face of another. And, you know, I think that those two are certainly worthy of that conversation. And, you know, that market in particular has continued to inch up. And, you know, we've had it reset, you know, twice over the last month and a half.
What's the going rate on that?
You're looking just north of 30, yeah.
$30 million for top corner. I mean, that's right
up there with the highest paid positions in the league. Undoubtedly. Undoubtedly. And you see it, obviously, with quarterback receivers. Those are starting to jump, but also DNs and IDLs are starting to climb. And right now, those are the spots that are really impacting plays and really impacting games and really showing up when you consider which teams make it the furthest. Having people who impact the game from those spots are certainly ones that jump out when you look at the teams that are lasting the longest, so to speak.
