What is the opening banter and preview for the Teal Talk episode?
We are underway. The Super Bowl winning season has officially started. And I promise we are not. Getting carried away. This is Teal Talk in partnership with Gallagher. My name is Rhys Parkinson. Hello, Jay Lawrence. No relation. Of course. What did I say, Jay? This game against the Browns was gonna be an absolute.
Absolute blower. You are totally right, Reese. And we have one of the heroes of the game on the show today. I'm so excited as well. Because not only was he playing in his first NFL game, he got his first NFL touchdown. Josh Cameron is gonna be on the show.
Also, we have NFL pundit, former NFL player Jason Bell breaking down the win against the Browns, or should I say the blowout win against the Browns. And looking forward to a tougher week two against the Broncos. And me and Jay. We are now such good friends, getting to that point of being brothers, that we sort of watched the game together on Sunday in a London pub, which ironically Jay messaged me and was like, hey. I'm planning on getting a beep ton of wings at this pub. Do you want to join me? And I'm like, beep, yes I do. Uh and we were looking for the game and of course this pub had nothing but red zone on
every screen. But there's some beauty in that though as well, isn't there, Reese? Because it means you're just surrounded by football all the time. And I don't know about you, but um I found it almost like overstimulating to an extent because you go to like the whole offseason without any football whatsoever, and then it's like, hey, remember this. It's everywhere, it's in your ears, it's on your it's in your eyes, your it's wings everywhere. I don't know. I was feeling it. And to to be able to, and this is gonna sound really strange, Reese, to feel comfortable. comfortable watching The Jags. In a first game of the season, it's such a bizarre and brilliant experience where it felt like ten minutes into the game, you could just sort of
chill and be like what flavour wings should we get next instead of focusing on the game.
I did think we focused a lot on the wings rather than
Which I think is natural. I guess what we're saying, Reese, is that um wings and a comfortable Jacksonville Jaguars win, there's there's nothing like it. There's nothing like it. That's that's the makins of a great weekend in my opinion. And and what a game it was as well to be able to enjoy and and what did you I mean, we're gonna get into your predictions later on because frankly, yeah, you did all right. You did all right in your prediction for this particular game. But how joyful was it to watch like It almost makes you feel like a bit of a coach yourself, saying the X needs to happen, Y needs to happen, and then the Jags are gonna be okay. And one of the big things that we said throughout um the last few weeks, particularly the last episode, Reese, was that needed to get after Deshaun Watson and the Jags got after Deshaun Watson, both the fumble and the interception led to scores.
And that's exactly what the defense did last season, Reese. It's happening again
in a in a brilliant way. Totally. And I think that's what kind of drove me to think it was gonna be a blowout, more because like the Browns offensively looked terrible from what I'd been watching kind of in the in in the preseason. Just looked awful. I don't know like how how Deshaun Watson is your starting QB. Like we were saying on the last podcast, this guy hasn't played, hasn't had a snap in game for like two years. I think I exaggerated last time, like three years, but it kind of s it looked like it was three years. I don't know how they're expecting him to go straight in and and push this team and and and drive the ball forward. Um and I just felt like if I was Josh Hines Allen, if I was Craven, if I was Foyer, anyone on the defense, I would be like, are you telling me my first?
game of this regular season is against the Browns at home. And they've got Deshaun Watson and they've got a new coach. They've basically got a whole new coach of stuff. Oh my Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. So to have that confidence, which I imagine the team did going into that, you're like, I just remember playing football as a kid and you go up against that team who are bottom in the league.
