What positives did Coach Coen see in the team's physicality and effort after the loss?

Liam Coen 0:00
I definitely liked what I saw in the joint for sure. Um I was pleased with the physicality, the the effort, the energy, um a lot of the execution as well. Um definitely think uh it was a ton to continue to clean up obviously and Um, don't play here for a while, but it was a step in the right direction when you uh are looking at maybe not necessarily milestones within camp, but all right, good mo moments that we can draw on. That's like all right, hey, yeah, that is our brand of football on display um against another quality opponent.
Unknown 0:32
With uh Josh Cameron and and C J Williams, they just continue to produce for you. Uh what did you see out of them tonight? And and are they getting to a point where they're earning your trust a little bit more?
Liam Coen 0:42
I I definitely can see that for sure. The the guys they s they're such pros in terms of their process already in a lot of ways. Not a lot to learn, no question. But terms of like showing up early, leaving late, doing more, doing extra, being locked into the details, understanding how to walk through in in some of the walkthrough settings, um and then coming out on on in the lights and and making plays.

How are Josh Cameron and C.J. Williams earning the coach’s trust this week?

Liam Coen 1:07
plays actually and so really good to see Josh make a one on one opt that we've seen him practice a number of times. Nick gave him a good opportunity. Uh CJ continuing to be steady and so um those guys are earning trust for sure. They're gonna continue to earn more.
Unknown 1:22
How comforting is it to have a guy like Amir Abdullah when you have LaQuent, you don't know when he's gonna be back.
Liam Coen 1:28
Yeah, it's I I thought he he definitely showed up tonight. It's kinda what we've all been seeing in a lot of ways in practice and um you know, y you talk about a pros pro and a guy that just does everything right. one of the first guys in the building with Parker and um takes care of himself, treats himself the right way in terms of uh his body and and getting his mind right for practice every day and then was able to show up tonight and obviously look a little bit you know better than everybody else in a lot of ways.
Unknown 1:56
And uh J Jacoby had like I don't know, something on his wrist or something like that, thumb like that. Is he gonna be able to go this week in the joint practices or
Liam Coen 2:04
We'll have to see. Um, you know, kinda jammed it, so we'll have to see where it's at when we get to to uh Tuesday, um and just kinda see.

Why is Amir Abdullah’s presence important while LaQuent is sidelined?

Liam Coen 2:14
I don't wanna push it too much.
Unknown 2:16
Coach, on the opposite end of the experience spectrum from Amir, it's a second straight game that Trevor Payne has led your receiving court in terms of yards and receptions. Um another guy who's making it difficult for you uh in what seems to be crowded rooms as far as decisions go, it looks like
Liam Coen 2:30
yeah, yeah, proud of proud of the uh of Paina again. Um you know Just continues to make plays, be in the right spot at the right time. I think him and Joey have a a natural little connection from working together, obviously, in a lot of these uh in the you know settings in practice. And I thought Michael Wharton did some nice things as well tonight. Um he's kind of been flashing a little bit, got a lot of reps in the joint the other day as well, and and didn't flinch, didn't blink. And so those guys are gonna continue to make make a hard and and whether it's for the Jacksonville Jaguars, whether it's for some other team, they're putting it on tape. Like they're they're they're doing their part. They're doing what we're asking 'em to do and giving themselves opportunities to play in the NFL.

What impact has Trevor Payne had on the receiving corps and why does it matter?

John Oehser 3:12
You talked this week about trusting Nick. Uh how'd you think he did early?
Liam Coen 3:16
Nick yeah, I thought he did some good things. Um, you know, they had not all their starters in, but they did have some. And um I thought he was on time, in rhythm, getting the ball out. I thought the opera I mean, we catched the the choice down at the goal line. I mean we're we're gonna be seven seven at that point, right? And um you know, I thought Nick did a nice job. I thought they protected well when Nick was in as well early on and kinda got a little tired later on, but for the most part I th I thought we protected.
