All right, welcome into this week's Ozone Podcast. It's a week one Ozone podcast. I'm senior writer uh John Ozier and uh I'm here in the Hyundai Studios along with this week's guest, analyst extraordinaire, I'm gonna call you Mark Duffner. And uh uh uh Jaguars fans by now are familiar with uh Duff and uh thank you for doing this and uh Look forward today to talking a little week one NFL football, right?
Shoot, I'm honored to be with you. Being the ozone, are you kidding me? This is awesome. I mean I'm really I've been waiting to be able to do those. So thank you.
Yeah, many people have waited and most people still want to be waiting. So um Before we start off, uh I wanna inform uh the listeners and uh the longtime listeners he knows who he is, Duff, the one guy who's been listening to me for ten years, does know who he is. Uh We're changing format a little bit this year. Before the Ozone podcast has been a Thursday show with a player that we run on uh Fridays. It's been uh purely a player interview. This year we're trying to get more into uh this episode, which will drop on Tuesdays during the season we'll look back at the previous game and forward a little bit to the next game. in the Thursday episode we'll have Jeff Logaman on for four or five minutes at the start to talk about the next week's game.
And then we'll have what the loyal uh listener will remember as the player interview segment. So uh it'll evolve over the course of the season. We're looking forward to uh trying something new here. That's awesome. Uh it it's not just because JP Shadrick left Uff, but it's a little bit of of vengeance toward JP. We're trying to get back at him at this point.
We're we're sorry we lost him right now, I can tell you that. But I can see there's a little competition. It's all good.
All good. So um As as we get into this, we're gonna get into the Browns a little later and uh go through the roster a little bit with you. Uh tell me just overall how you feel about this team. You've been at this point on a Tuesday week one guy uh getting ready to go. If you were inside this team How would you feel about it?
I feel good right now, I do. And it's and really the first game is generally all about us, the current team. Especially this week in Cleveland a new head coach, a new defensive coordinator, new offensive coordinator, as in the head coach. So uh it's gonna be more about us, but I just like the the team's attitude, I like the energy I've seen, I like the execution I've seen, I like the fight and the attack, you know. Uh Coach Cohen's uh mantra, if you will, was attacked the off season. They've done that. They did it in the spring. They had excellent training camp, the joint practices. When I look at all the pauses right now, I feel good. And I and so again you wanna trust you wanna trust your technique, your fundamentals, trust your instincts.
I think they've got a lot of things in place.
Did you ever and and again you were in a lot of situations building up and there's a special feeling that week one because you just don't know. You you know, you've done did you ever not feel great going in? Or do you always sort of build up

Some anxiety at times, you know, because there's some unknowns. When you've had uh new players, whether it be veterans or draft picks playing for you, you're not sure how they're gonna respond to the true game, which is what's gonna happen this Sunday in the stadium. So uh oh yeah, I've I've had some uh anxious moments if you will and sometimes if you were the first time s a new staff, which they're not here, all those things kinda creep in. Nineteen of twenty two starters back, all the coaching staff back here, a lot of things not to get uh too secure about, but uh I think a lot of things are in spa in place for this to be a good thing.
We're gonna s uh preview the offense in our first segment, but first Let's hear from Liam Cohen, uh, talking to the media on Monday.
