In RPG news, uh, my friend Josie at Inkwell has a new bundle of holding. Adam Bradford was on the Mastering Dungeons podcast. Mike Merle's on challenge ratings. Uh, we're going to do a spotlight today on the the game Into the Odd, uh, which has been off my radar. Uh I don't know why, but I haven't really been paying much attention to it. And now I got a review copy and we're gonna talk about that today. And today's GM tip is layering locations, how you build layers of history upon locations to make them really rich and interesting and unique.
So that your characters have a lot of juicy lore to chew on while they're going through their location. And we're gonna cover more questions from the Patreon QA. Today on the Lazy RPG Talk Show. I'm Mike Shea, your pal from Sly Flourish, here to talk about all things in tabletop role-playing games. This past week over on Sly Flourish, I wrote the article The Types of Lightning Rods for DD in 5e. Lightning rods are ways to showcase cool character abilities and help you kind of think about your encounters in a way so. So that the characters can the players can really enjoy the capabilities that their characters have. And we break it down by class in this article. What are some of the things that each class that you can kind of build in for each class?
What are the sort of the environments and monsters and situations where each class really shines? So that you can think about that while you're building your encounters. Um, this article covers one of my favorite things about lazy GMing, which was when you find a particular tip, trick, or tool that ha that offers multiple benefits, right? A small thing that you can do that actually gives you a lot of different benefits. Things like campfire tales, things like uh one. One year later montages, things like the players summarizing uh previous sessions.
There's lots of little small things that we can do that really offer lots of separate advantages, you know, multiple different advantages for one small thing that we do. Those are those are what I really consider to be like powerhouse lazy GM ticks tricks. This article covers a handful of them. There are many more, uh, but it also kind of gets in your mind and I've Would love to hear your feedback on what are some of the tricks that you use that you're like, yeah, it's really easy for me to do and it offers a lot of different value, a lot of different things that it that like the different elements of value that it brings to my game.
