What is the overall premise of the Dragon Empire campaign and its current status?
Hello friends, it's your pal Mike Shea from Sly Flourish. Here with another episode of Sly Flourish's Lazy GM Prep. In this weekly show, we go through steps from Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master and Rise of the Lazy Game Master while preparing for my Sunday role-playing game. In this case, I am running a long-running Tales of the Valiant campaign set in the world of Midgard called Scourge of the Dragon Empire. This show, like all of the work of Sly Flourish, is brought to you by the patrons of Sly Flourish. Patrons get access to all kinds of tips, tricks, tools, access to our incredible Discord community, access to a bunch of different things to help you run your games. Hero tier patrons get access to a whole other separate podcast and previews of upcoming products and lots of stuff that you get.
Lots of stuff like that. To the patrons of Sly Flourish, thank you so much for your outstanding support. I said last time that I think we were 90 sessions in. I think we're in the 80s, it turns out. Oh boy, we've been doing this campaign for a long time. The whole campaign has been destabilizing the Dragon Empire. There were nine dragons ruling over a massive region of Midgard called the Marathi region, or the Dragon Empire. And the dragons had a figurehead sultan who was in charge, but really the nine dragons ruled, these nine ancient dragons. And the whole campaign has been about destabilizing that empire. The empire is incredibly tyrannical. The characters are rebelling against it. And they have been destabilizing the empire ever since.
They stole a big horde. They caused all kinds of disruption. They've been doing all kinds of fun things. But now the characters are 16th level and they have killed one Morza. They're on their way to kill a second Morza. They declared another Morza for death by the death of another Morza. One Morza against another. One other Morza was killed by another group. So the empire, really, the truth is the empire has fallen at this point. It's mostly about making sure it falls in the right direction and cleaning things up as they go. I don't know. I was pondering and I was pondering a little bit before the show about how much longer we have in this campaign. They're 16th level now. I would like them to get to 20th.
I think it would be fun for them to reach 20th level, though. I've told them that like once the group is like, you know what? We've had enough fun. I'm totally willing to say let's clean this up and we're and we're complete because again, the Empire has fallen. But I want to kind of think about, like, if we were to break down the rest of the campaign so that they could enjoy the remaining four levels, 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th, that would be great. And that would mean, and then we're going to see what that looks like. So one of the things we're going to do for our prep today is think about, like, what does the rest of the campaign look like? But we also have a specific session, and I'm always big on, like, let's focus on the next session we've got, which is a session that's happening today in three hours.
Let's make sure that we've got what we need in order to do that. I am using Obsidian for my game prep today. We're going to go to campaigns, and we're going to go to Dragon Empire, session notes, and create new note from template, and go to my Dragon Empire template, which fills things out. Uh, Gaudenzia is no longer playing in our group, and Emmert is out, but I think everybody else might be there today. Uh, so, starting with the characters, we have Ammivan. Uh, Ammivan is the rogue. Uh, Iblin is unlikely to expect the characters to infiltrate her sanctum through her own emergency exit. Nulla, the ghosts of the dragons lay thick along the dragon's coil. Mateo, the power of the dragon's coil is very strong.
That's a terrible sentence, but it'll do. Rowan, our fighter. the dangers of the Dragon's Coil are very different than that of the Empire. And Tolstoy, the devils of the Tower, do not like being under the command of Iblin. So I got some secrets.
