So in 2024, I turned 40. In August, at the time of this recording, it is April 2025. And I will tell you, 2024 was hard. It was very hard in my personal life, my business life, emotionally, financially, physically, it was a lot. And turning 40, like just seeing that on the horizon for most of 2024, was very daunting. Like I felt really weird about it. I didn't have a problem turning 30. Like that did not bother me at all, but somehow turning 40 really bothered me because I felt like my life is halfway over. I haven't done all the things that I wanted to do. And because it was so hard with all the other pieces of my life, It was just like another layer that added to all the other things that were going on that were just draining me mentally.

And I started to think about all the things that I still wanted to do in the second half of my life. and all the things that I wish I could have done differently and how, you know, my life could look very different if I had made just like a different decision at different points in my life. Not that I regret where I'm at in my life at all, like my family and and my where I live and all the things. It was just like a time of reflection. right like not necessarily like all negative right it was just amazing to sit and think well if i hadn't done this how different my life would look and if i hadn't done that how different my life would look you know like if i hadn't uh just went to that one party where my husband was and i met him uh i probably never would have met him like it's wild how you start to think about
Ashley Patrick 3:40
oh my gosh if just one thing had been different everything else would have been different as well um and so it just really got me thinking about um or feeling like the clock is ticking down right like the whole first half of your life you feel like oh i have plenty of time to do all the things. And when I hit 40, it was like, oh my gosh, no, I do not have time to do all of the things. And so it really can like shift your perspective, right? And so today we're going to go over some of the things for you to start thinking about and planning for like focusing on when it comes to money in the second half of your life because your focus is different your perspective is different uh you don't care about things as much like i've noticed that uh a lot in the last couple months like my um
Ashley Patrick 4:37
give a crap meter is really low like I just don't care I don't care what people think I don't care um like I just don't care where when you're younger like I see it like my daughters are reminding me like how it was in middle school and you know even elementary school and I'm like oh yeah I used to you know everybody used to care what people thought about them and
