What is curling and how is it different from bowling?
Bob, a couple of clerical items to attend to. Would you like to go hit golf balls right after this indoors at the RMU Dome with me? I think I might rather go curling with you. Well, that's the other thing, and it's a funny way of saying no, but I'll take that as a no. The Pittsburgh Curling Association has contacted us. Yes, Limits? Pittsburgh Curling Club, yes.
They pulled a Signetti in the text line here and said, Google us. Do a learn to curl. More fun than bowling.
Is that an invite?
I think it's an invite, yeah.
Pittsburgh Curling Club. Where are they located? Let's do some further research here, Joe. Fan Twitter brought to you by South Hills Kia Peters Township. Visit them at southhillskia.net. Bob, we have quite a crew lined up for our curling field trip.
They're in the rocks, Bob.
They're in the rocks. In the rocks. Here we go. We'll go down there.
Keys rocks. Including two Stanley Cup champions, you and I, Limits, plus Tyler Kennedy and Jay Caulfield. Should we take a limo?
We could do that. We get it sponsored and everything else. Yeah, Bob, you can pay for it. The thing is, who is the person pushing the stone and who is the person – Well, how many people on a curling team?
Is it two on two?
Is that what we do or three on three? I think there's someone else. There's a sweeper down at the end when you're – I think there's four actually.
I didn't invite Crowley, but I don't think he can lift the broom. Limits.
Watch him.
Watch him. Are you backhandedly insulting me because Crowley and I have similar stashers?
No, you're Arnold Schwarzenegger compared to Crowley. I arm wrestled him once. It was literally like having arm wrestling some sort of stick or twig his arm. A twig. It was borderline tragic. All the leaves have fallen off that tree there, Bob. So let's do that, Bob. Let's take a field trip and go curling. I don't know what it would be. I don't know how many people are on a team. Maybe a three-on-three. We could include Ballsy, perhaps. Use his head as one of the curling, what do they call those things? Pucks? Stones. Stones, yeah.
You've got to have stones. Do you have stones, Joe?
Mm-hmm.
Are we doing that, Bob, or aren't we?
I don't want this to be another empty promise. Joe, would you like some additional information? Our friend Joyce is on the line from the Pittsburgh Curling Club.
Oh, there we go.
Hello, Joyce.
And Joe.
How are you?
How many players are on a curling team and what are their roles?
There's four people on a team. Yes. So everybody throws two rocks. So you throw your two rocks. The other two people sweep. The other guys at the end tell you where to put your rocks. Then you get up, the next guy throws his two rocks, and everybody sweeps, and then the skip never sweeps. He basically is down there calling the shot.
Okay.
Yeah, you get to sweep and throw rocks.
So what is the ultimate goal here, Joyce?
To win.
To win, Bob.
No, I know that, but I've just watched. The ultimate goal is to get more points. That's not what I'm saying. It's no different than shuffleboard.
I just saw this team right here did not have anybody. I'm going to call it the bullseye. I don't know what you call the middle thing there. But they just knocked away. They didn't have anything in there, but they played defense, and they knocked two things away, and they won. I don't know.
Right. So, like, if I'm a lead, typically my skip wants me to throw guards at the top. So then you can start curling behind them and set up your strategy and So it makes it harder for people to knock your rocks out. Like, theoretically, you want to be the guy, get your rocks in the house, closest to the button, and score points. And so there's all these strategies. This is why I'm not a skip. I can't think beyond just throwing my own rocks.
The sweeping part of it. Actually, I mean, you sweep to make it faster at the end, right, when it has to travel to where it has to travel. How much does that actually help?
Yes. Yes. The hog line? Oh, my God.
Let me ask you this, Joyce. I'm fascinated with the whole shoe situation. They're on ice, yet they're not wearing skates. Is this like bowling? Will we rent curling shoes?
