Chapter 1: What recent event involving Rob Reiner is discussed?
welcome back to the toast patreon happy december it's a december it's a december to remember here at patreon not a sale the price is fixed oh yeah not a sale which works in times of inflation and in times of sales in times of surplus and in times of derplus what are the opposite of surpluses
welcome back you guys we are doing a very fun episode today because claudia and i just wanted to do some girly swirly chit chat we had like planned like a big themed episode but we weren't ready to record it today wait also speaking of girly swirly can i tell everyone my journey with chat gbt so i don't know if you guys know this but like a while ago revlon came out with a lipstick called girly swirly and actually somebody from communications in revlon like sent it to us being like isn't this amazing and i'm like you stealing our language without compensating us yeah we love it yeah
We actually reached out to our attorney who told us there's quite literally nothing we can do about it. I'm like, if we wanted to go to court, we don't. And it's just like a fun fact that if you go into literally any grocery store or drugstore that sells lipstick, you will find a lipstick called girly swirly.
and i feel like people didn't know that no because i didn't want to give the brand like right we didn't promote it we weren't getting paid so i saw somebody in our facebook group was like oh my god was this a partnership anybody know that there's a lipstick called girly swirly like the girls must be freaking we're not and i was reading comments and people are like well they didn't create girly swirly i'm like uh
If we didn't create it, then who did? Like, we literally did.
No, we did.
We did.

Chapter 2: How does the 'girly swirly' lipstick controversy unfold?
It's a childhood family. There are other things that we've, like, popularized but not created. Swirly, girly Swirly. Like, you could walk it all the way back. We did create it. I can understand, like, why people would just assume it's become so big. Of course. I understand, like, you thinking, like, it was bigger than us. You'd be confused, yeah. But it's not.
Chapter 3: What role did ChatGPT play in the 'girly swirly' discussion?
And so I went to chat GBT, and I was like, hey, Swirly. Can you let me know who invented girly swirly? And Jack Chibiti was like, well, I believe there were like, you know, references to girly and swirly in some pop teen magazines in the early 2000s. But the phrase became widely popularized in 2020. And I said, oh, what happened in 2020? You said the 2020s. OK, then that's what it was.
Sorry, I forgot.
OK.
And I was like, oh, what happened in the 2020s?
Chapter 4: How did the phrase 'girly swirly' become popularized?
what made it popular and they were like oh the internet you know like podcast and tiktok and i was like i actually said sometimes like you have to correct chat gbt they're like low-key not smart and i was like hi chat um actually you're wrong the podcasters jackie and claudia ashrae of the toast made it famous and he was like you know what you're right and they were like here's how it happened you know podcast audience becomes niche niche audience becomes internet whatever
Hopefully now if you ask ChatGBT, I have, like, course corrected.
Yeah, but we all know. We were there. And if you really want to do your homework, like, it's in the files, everything. The receipts are online, as Heather Gay would see. Receipts, timelines, screenshots.
No, that's not it. Everything. Now you're saying it wrong.
Chapter 5: What are the hosts' thoughts on the latest season of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City?
All of it.
Receipts, proof, timeline.
And screenshots, fucking everything, right?
Fucking everything, yes.
I guess that was a viral sound at the time. I do want to update everyone because I belatedly have watched that season of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City after mostly avoiding spoilers when it all happened. Now that I've watched that season, I've asked Claudia, like, what was the temperature of the country like when that came out? Mm-hmm. And Claude was like, oh my God, it was like Scandival.
It was the biggest thing.

Chapter 6: How does the concept of 'receipts' relate to pop culture?
And even when I posted it on my story, the people responding to me like receipts, timeline proof. I'm like, that was the quote you guys took away from it. I didn't realize that was like the money moment.
So kind of like embedded in American culture now, much like girly swirly.
Is receipts, timeline proof, screenshots, fucking everything. So can I just share my thoughts on what I thought? Because I had an idea. Did you not? Did we not have this conversation on the podcast? No, I hadn't seen the big reveal yet.
Chapter 7: What exciting updates are shared about the podcast's Patreon content?
Are you sure? Positive. Okay. Positive. I was just enjoying my season saying I'm team Lisa Barlow. She was on to Monica. And I had an idea that like Monica was this insidious character and that like she did something, some cyber bullying, but I didn't know the extent of it.
And like as I'm watching the season, I was like, oh, maybe she was just the one who sent Meredith that DM about Angie and like.
just made a fake burner account and was getting called out for it but no the fact that she was running like a Real Housewives of Salt Lake City specific right fan account for bullying the girls she was like she was she said she was one-sixth of it and in her part she was interested in bullying Jen Cha and Jen Cha only specifically but like she was surrounding herself with the people who are bullying Whitney and Lisa and like that is so fucking crazy and so insane that Bravo let her on the show and she maintains that she told Bravo that she did this I would love to know
if they knew how this slipped through the cracks. But the whole season, like, her presence on the show was so weird. Yeah. And she'll make it about money and be like, what, because I don't have money? No.
Well, a little bit because you don't have money. It is a show about affluent women.
Plenty of people, like, come on the show of different means and they have different things to bring to the table. Yes.
she really didn't have much to bring to the table except for being obsessed with Jen Cha like that was it all season I was like not about her I felt like she like went for like low blows low hanging fruit she also like she thought she was like such a slay and she would like argue with people but she would do the cheapest arguing tactic oh no she's gonna be like it's about money no
