Um so we've called our meeting to order and we've had our introductions and so now um let's move to the consent items that are on our agenda. Um Miss Mayfield and Miss Johnson had questions and comments about that. Mm. Thank you. I just wanted to hear a little more about uh the Micro transit.
And and just hear some more about it and Talk about it possibly in the university area where we are with that. Thank you.

Mayor, members of city council, good evening. My name is Brent Kagel. I'm interim Cat C CEO. Uh Ms. Johnson, to your question, uh microtransit, it's a new mode that we are rolling out. Um with this contract will enable us to roll it out in the northern towns. We say that it it's in the northern towns, it's Davidson. Cornelius, Huntersville, but also in Charlotte for the initial rollout because it includes the area generally around North Lake Mall. So there are elements in the initial rollout. To your question of what's the plan, there are 19 different zones, microtransit zones throughout the county. And the um the plan is to over the next few years to roll out microtransit and all of those zones. Pending funding.
Um specific to university uh city, it is the next on the list. So funding allowed, it will be the next area that we look to roll out microtransit. We are currently having conversations with um university city partners and some of the businesses in the university research park to see if there's a way for us to either roll it out on a limited limited basis uh sooner or to see if there are partnerships uh with some of the private businesses to enable us to ru ru uh roll it out as soon as possible, but it is next on the list to focus on as a rollout area.
Thank you. That is something we've been talking about for a long time. So it's good to hear that we'll start North Lake Mall area in District Four and then University City in District Four is next. I personally always have a challenge when we look at a outside company, this company that we're talking about. moving forward with is out of California somewhere when we have local companies. But I do know that our local company Just a right. Ride share did not. apply yet I do say that I appreciate the extra work that was done.
