Well good evening. Welcome to our September seventeenth, twenty twenty five Planning Commission meeting. Uh commission uh the uh our agenda this evening includes commission business and four public hearings. Uh w before we get started I did want to do introduce uh Centerville Boy Scout Troop forty four here to uh garner part of their citizenship and community merit badge. Their troop leader is uh Simon Youngblut. Gentlemen, welcome. Thank you for being here. I hope you find it interesting. The Board of Supervis uh and on to commission business, uh the Board of Supervisors authorized almost three years ago an initiative to update the countywide comprehensive pl uh plan policy plan While the policy plan has been amended over the years, it has not been holistically updated since its original adoption thirty four thirty-five years ago.
The goals of this initiative are to review, update and streamline the existing policy plan elements, add new policy plan elements as needed, and ensure that the policy plan is aligned with the countywide strategic plan, the one Fairfax policy, and other adopted policies and initiatives. The plan amendment process is divided into two phases, with phase one to be completed this year, focusing on updates to the preface and introduction, land use, transportation, environment. uh and healthy community elements. And phase two will be undertaken in the next year in twenty twenty six and it will focus on economic development, revitalization, housing, public facilities, recreation and parks, the Chesapeake Pay uh Bay supplement,
Heritage Resources. Phase one of the policy plan update is entering the final stages with the recent completion of the staff report, which includes proposed new and revised policy plan language for the phase one elements. The staff report can be found on the policy plan webpage under Fairfax County Plan Amendment twenty twenty two dash CW dash two CP. Uh again, if you look into if you put into the search engine for Fairfax County Plan Amendment twenty twenty two dash CW dash two CP, you should uh find uh the report. A broad notice has gone out to the public that include the link to this webpage. The Planning Commission's policy plan committee will convene staff with staff on october ninth in this government center room eleven to review and discuss staff's report and proposed updated policy plan language.
This meeting will also be televised on channel sixteen and recorded for later viewing. Two public hearings will subsequently be convened. The first uh will be convened by us, the Planning Commission, on october fifteenth. The second that would be a month from now. The second will be convened by the Board of Supervisors on november eighteenth. Uh second announcement, uh the housing committee meeting scheduled for tomorrow evening is being rescheduled to a date to be announced. Now call on uh Secretary Hancock for action on minutes.
