I'm glad uh I usually come to these meetings and have very little to contribute. podcast-host

But but we also have to keep some things in context. podcast-host

The national average for funding of public education is thirteen thousand dollars per student. podcast-host

In Florida we get nine. podcast-host

So when we pay for buses, when we pay for uh uh reduced revenue sources, uh, which I think is still a good thing. podcast-host

And again, we started that process way before this item came to the Broward Planning Council. podcast-host

Uh so I'm proud of that. podcast-host

Uh but but we have to also realize that we do public education in Florida on the cheap. podcast-host

And uh uh when you start every year four thousand dollars behind the national average in education, uh don't be surprised if if uh some of the decisions we make are because we just don't have enough money uh to pay teachers and do uh uh things that go beyond kind of the very core requirements of K through twelve education. podcast-host

our staff or the city staff talk to the to the city or to the developer about affordable housing. podcast-host

Uh eighty one units is below the limit, I get that. podcast-host

And so uh I intend to vote in favor of this no matter what. podcast-host

Uh but it's pretty close. podcast-host

It's certainly an area where we could do affordable housing. podcast-host

There's a lot of multifamily residential in that area. podcast-host
