And then we had these next evolution was were like these featured snippets.

And featured snippets were basically Google taking um using machine learning and AI to take a snippet of your content and match that to be a most relevant.

Answer to a specific query.

And then publishers and site owners were like, hey, this is not fair.

You're taking my content, you're copying and pasting it and sticking it on your website with a little then attribution initially wasn't that big.

Now it's much bigger.

And every SEO back then initially was like, we don't want this.

We want to opt out of it.

And then now every SEO who doesn't earn a featured snippet is like, How do I get in the feature snippets?

Because it drives a lot of traffic and we want to be in the future snippet.

And then

Now we have these AI overviews, or previously known as SGE results, search and of experience.

Now they're called AI overviews.

And it's the same thing.

Like Google's not only taking my content, but they're reading all the content across the web that they like and then regurgitating that in some type of using an LLM to go ahead and make that into their own answer, using my information to make them better at providing an answer from multiple sources.

So initially Google launched it, especially.

Specifically with uh BARD, and BARD didn't have any links in it and didn't have any um citations.

And then we all complained, and Google's like, no, publishers are super important, we don't want to ruin that world because without you know our content, Google has nothing to consume to make their answers.

Um, so Google's now starting to push links, not just in the AIO reviews through hyperlinks and so forth and cards, but also in Bard, they're actually showing.
