So root tea sounds kind of soft and maybe even medicinal.

And root beer sounds hard.

Yeah, you're not going to work in the mines with your root tea.

And by the way, we should also note that this stuff was sold in like powder format and syrupy format and people would like combine it at home to make the beer or the tea.

Yeah, it started catching, right?

So why are they calling it beer?

It's the continuity.

So these colonial small beers, you're like, well, what exactly is a small beer then?

And a small beer is something that's kind of low in ABV.

And again, brewed because people wanted to drink something that was safe and wasn't going to kill them.
