And since then mobile has has changed many times over, um, in including like what's the best strategy and what's the best recommendation for
developing and and getting found and and used on mobile devices, but ultimately the the game is the same, right?
You want exposure, you want good brand awareness and you want, you know, people to find all the deep content on your site and engage with it effectively, right?
So that's the story.
Yeah.
It's a good question.
Um, mostly
having the history and being able to say, well, Google originally started like this but then that backfired so they switched to this and stuff like that has given me a really good perspective to one, know that Google's not perfect and two, know that Google's recommendations are not permanent.
And they they sometimes backtrack or or make recommendations that are then overused or misunderstood and then they have to make recommendations to fix their old recommendations.
And that's happened time and time again um in mobile.
So for instance, if you think back to when mobile was first coming along, people were building separate websites on uh dot moby domains.
And that was bad for SEO 'cause Google had to then understand that these were two different domains but the same company.
Um and you had to set up uh bi-directional annotation to say this is the desktop version and this is the web version, and then switching to responsive design.
That sounded like a great idea, except developers leaned way harder on JavaScript than they did on style sheets, uh, which Google expected them to use style sheets, and the JavaScript made the pages slower.
So Google had to then
you know, invent ranking systems that would potentially preference faster pages and or they offered AMP so that they could control what JavaScript you were using and make it faster on mobile again and then you would had separate pages again.
So it's um it's been kind of a a messy road.
Uh so just kind of knowing that and anticipating that I think gives me a perspective that a lot of SEOs don't have, either who are newer or who are less in the technical weeds because they don't understand how imperfect Google is.
And, you know, like how many times they've had to kind of double back and like fix their recommendations or write new recommendations to fix old recommendations.
Yeah, so it's important for a lot of different reasons because the index is only so big and Google has to manage, you know, the index for the entire world.
