So they're going to be using my year of getting stronger to build consistency into their walking.
But right now I want to talk about a hack that I've come to realize is super important in making something consistent.
Rock solid consistent.
Have you ever heard of decision fatigue?
It's the idea that we are faced with so many decisions that we actually get tired of making decisions.
and we either don't make the decisions or make poor decisions simply because we're tired and we don't want to think about it.
I feel this most acutely around the two fundraisers that I direct for the radio station where I work.
It's a full week, long days, I'm in charge and I'm making decision after decision after decision, 13 hours a day.
And then even after I leave the radio station, I'm making decisions about the next day.
And I feel that decision fatigue so acutely that when the week is over, Ava could ask me something simple like, what do you want for dinner tonight?
I don't want to think about anything.
I don't want to make any decisions.
You pick and I'll simply eat it.
I feel that decision fatigue and it takes me days before I'm like, okay, I'm ready to make another decision.
My life isn't like that all the time, but there are times when even outside of fundraiser,
I have decision fatigue to the point that I don't want to make a decision and it has impacted my walking.
There, I remember one morning not too long after we moved here and my routine included a long walk in the morning and it was cold, it was windy, the weather wasn't all that great and I was sitting in my brown leather chair
debating with myself trying to convince myself to go go take the walk and i didn't want to because i didn't want to think about where i was going to walk at that point i would just open the door and kind of go wherever
wherever I felt like it.
So each, each day, the walk was a little bit different, but on this particular day, that decision, the decision of, all right, where am I going to go?
