Something is happening.
There's a process that's unfolding that is going to be processed, digested, and released with lots of different modes and ways of being well beyond what's typically allowed in our healthcare system.
I think that is like, yeah, I'm glad that that resonated with you and that you're spotlighting it because I actually think that's the difference between, in many cases, really good therapy and therapy that doesn't move the needle is being able to have a certain level of transparency about saying, and I think this is where really good therapists are really good at saying,
What is it like to be with me?
How do you feel about coming here?
What do you notice yourself censoring?
What do you feel you have to edit out for my benefit?
Just to get a sense of like, what's happening here in this work that we're doing together instead of like, okay, tell me about your weekend, right?
This is like very new.
And then we go through the motions and you talk through a thing, but you don't feel it shifting you.
Right.
That form of therapy does not move the needle for many, many people.
That's how people end up in therapy for 10, 15 years and nothing changes.
It's like the real art of very skillful, thoughtful therapy is you're right on the edge of discomfort, but you're also feeling so validated that it's okay to feel that way.
And there's really good reasons to feel that way.
And let you and I sit on the edge of this discomfort so at least you're not alone in how uncomfortable you feel to be here.
And if therapy was framed that way, I'll bet a lot more people would go.
I think so.
