Like for example, you know, fear makes us want to run, but we don't have to run.
I don't know, you know, have you ever been in a relationship now where you felt jealous before or anything like that?
does it make you want to do when you're jealous of someone?
It makes you want to do all sorts of things to the other person, right?
And just because we feel jealous, it's okay to feel jealous but we don't actually have to do anything.
So I think that's one of the critical steps in being able to navigate the relationship and the emotions in the relationships.
It's understanding the emotion but not necessarily acting on the urge.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, right.
Just letting the emotion be the wave, wash it over you and then keep going.
Yeah, that's super tough.
Yeah, I mean it's such an intense feeling to have and I think it's around the people the the people that we have in our lives that make us feel that way or that don't really listen.
I think one of the things that's super important to recognise is that emotions are telling us something.
And that every time we listen to our emotion, there's something important that it's telling us about who we are, about what we want, about the values that we have.
And if we just shut it off, then totally agree, we're not being ourselves.
So it's about finding the right way to express the emotion.
Maybe not the right way, but the way that's the most effective for you to express the emotion and listen to what it's telling you.
Yeah, well I guess there's times where we're all in this kind of emotional heap in the relationship and everyone's kind of acting on those urges without actually taking that breather, taking a step back.
And I think the most important thing to do there is to know that we don't have to have the conversation now.
We can walk away from the conversation, come back to it a bit later, make sure that we can come to it in a way that's a bit more calm and relaxed.
