And when you do that,

you find that you can talk about the emotion without it actually

Being the thing that makes you want to act on the urge.

So if we can talk about the emotion in a calmer way or a more relaxed way that's palatable for someone else, that's really helpful.

But I guess the other thing is knowing what our emotion does to someone else when we express it.

So learning a bit more about why they can't handle the emotion, why can't they deal with the emotion that we're expressing right now?

What about it is a struggle for them.

So it's about understanding what's

happening for them.

You know, I think it's really interesting.

I've got this um uh Instagram platform called The Lives of Others and on that I asked a question, how do you recover when people call you too emotional or too sensitive?

And one of the things that people wrote was

that when people call someone too emotional, too sensitive, it's often more about what's going on for them.

They're struggling to deal with the emotion, struggling to handle the emotion themselves.

And so it's about understanding why is that challenging for them and engaging with that.

I think there's two things that it does.

Um, I mean there's probably a few more as well, but I'm just gonna name two.

I think one of the things is that they come out in ways where we don't expect 'cause we feel like we can't actually engage with the emotion, express the emotion.

So you might be annoyed about something, feel like you can't express it because they're not gonna take it well, and then when they breathe the wrong way or when they do something that just bothers you a little bit, it becomes something that really plays on the emotion.
