Don't think about what your next line is.
Um
E is engage, engage with curiosity.
You know, I heard your podcast, Fight the Good Fight.
I mean, she talked about how it's so important to engage with curiosity, ask questions.
What is this making you feel?
What's your story about the situation?
Things like that.
And finally, and navigate our own emotion.
That's what it comes down to, I think, which is really critical, is understand what's going on for us and then we can respond to someone else and be all about them.
Well, I think uh sometimes it's important to leave the space for someone else and that's one of the hardest things to do if you're really feeling like you need to talk about it now is to leave space because then we have to deal with our own emotion.
You know, we want to fix it straight away or talk about it straight away so we don't have to feel anything.
But in those situations we need to be able to work with our own emotion.
That's one thing.
But on the other hand, if you're always doing it, it can be a little problematic.
And sometimes finding that middle ground super important.
So saying things like, Hey, you know, we had this conversation about this before and it was a little bit challenging.
Maybe we could plan a time where we could actually sit down and talk about it so both of you can come a little prepared to the conversation.
Yeah, it can be really tough.
I think there's a lot of uh extreme emotions that mental health clinicians, psychologists work with, and if we're taking that on in a relationship, it can be really challenging.
