We all have an emotional reservoir, right?
And it's very normal for us to kind of push down emotions because, again, we never learned how to do that probably.
We never learned how to feel.
Or when we felt maybe your anxiety was protecting you from being too big of a feeler.
People said that you have too many feelings or you shouldn't feel that way.
Or when you cried, maybe someone said, it's okay, stop crying, you don't need to cry.
Things like that, even these little messages, they build up over time, so then we repress any emotion that comes up.
So that's somewhat known.
We know that we need to express more.
But one of my examples, and similar to Nicole Sacks' examples, of when she recognized that this deeper work meant actually allowing yourself to feel the ugly ones, like the really mean things you never think you're allowed to say, meaning she was –
She was trying to, I think she had two young kids.
She was early in her therapist career and she was trying to get them in the car.
She was just stressed out, right?
And so in her feelings, she was like, I'm stressed out as a mom.
I'm stressed out with building a therapy practice.
You know, this is a lot for me.
This is chaotic, which yeah, it makes sense, right?
It makes sense for her to feel that.
