I'm excited.
I'm staying at San Ysidro that night.
I get a good dinner, pack up the car, and I'm there at the last on-ramp to Mexico.
And right when I do, there's a bunch of traffic.
And all the traffic is there on the freeway.
Because the Highway Patrol has stopped the traffic because they're looking for stolen cars.
Periodically, they do this because people are stealing cars all the time.
And at that point, I get stopped.
I get arrested.
I get arrested for all the crimes that I had done that got me my five warrants.
But they don't arrest me for the bank robbery because they don't know I did it.
So I get to keep that money.
I go to prison.
And for two years while I was in prison, I was like, all right, now I'm going to be a bank robber.
That's it.
And that's all when I get out.
And when I got out two years later, for 14 months, I robbed 30 banks, sometimes several in one day.
That's how I became a bank robber, because I lost all sense that my life was going to be long at all.
I just wanted to grab the loot and get the hell out of Dodge as fast as possible and go spend it and have fun.
That was my ethos.
