I'm going to say it's an excuse.
There's literally a theory called stress buffering hypothesis.
This is the idea that when we are with other people, it buffers the effects of stress in our body.
So rather than whatever the stress you're going through, releasing cortisol and keeping you in this heightened state, which increases inflammation and makes you more susceptible to diseases, it buffers against that.
It quells that biological process entirely so that you are actually going to be less stressed out afterwards.
Right.
Well, it's true.
