on a good path in terms of first of all they've recognized that there's a pattern here that they keep doing this whatever it is they keep bringing this bad stuff into the relationship um it's undervalued i think in our world but
The idea of recognizing and really recognizing something is the fulcrum of change.
It just really, the recognition itself can be enough to go, whoa, hey, this is the fourth relationship in a row I've bought this bag of stuff in, this terrible stuff that I keep inflicting on my poor partners.
if I've done it three or four times in a row, I'm going to keep doing it unless I turn around and empty this stuff out and really look at it and try and do something with it.
So if that's Ash's story, they're on their way to actually sorting this out.
Talking about bad language, yes, calling somebody you love a psychopath, that's pretty strong stuff, extremely corrosive.
And I guess I'd be asking, Sam, what's keeping you in that space and digging beyond, well, I love this person or I'm committed to this person or whatever?
What is it in your world that is allowing you to put up with this, to accept this as okay?
I can hear in the text it's not 100% okay, but some part of this is okay for Sam.
And I'd be curious to know why do you keep sort of picking this sort of language up?
Why do you keep picking up these labels?
There is a dynamic there that is unhealthy, clearly.
guess it's because this idea of changing someone for the better, to quote one of the callers, is something that is guaranteed to burn up a lot of wasted energy.
You can't change me.
