Dangerous winter conditions are in the forecast this weekend for much of the south, spanning from Texas to the Carolinas.

Jeffrey Todd West apologized to the family of Margaret Berry and her son, Wilberry, urged Alabama's governor to commute West's sentence to life in prison.

He said taking another life will not help his family.

Wilberry also said, I forgive him and so does my dad.

We don't want him to die.

But Governor Kay Ivey let the execution go forward.

West was put to death by use of nitrogen gas.

Witnesses say his eyes were open and he appeared to foam at the mouth, gasped and struggled for breath before expiring.
