Chapter 1: Who is Lintel Washington and what happened to her?

18.86 - 29.669 Advertisement Narrator

Everyone wants to be lucky in love, and Lintel Washington finally is. When she goes missing, the only person who may know what really happened is her tiny daughter, a barefoot witness.

0

47.173 - 56.1 Jamisha (Friend and Co-worker of Lintel)

A beloved teacher, dedicated. No matter what those children did, she gave them everything she had. Full of promise.

0

57.501 - 69.75 Advertisement Narrator

She was named Teacher of the Year. Lintel Washington seems to have a bright road ahead, but it's about to meet an unexpected end in a very dark place.

0

70.171 - 72.793 Interviewer

We had just the makings of a real horror story.

0

90.302 - 101.725 Advertisement Narrator

One Thursday morning, a parking lot security camera captures something pretty disturbing. A toddler running around by herself clutching a pillow.

104.525 - 107.086 Investigator

I mean, this is a little child.

Chapter 2: How was Lintel Washington's daughter found and what did she reveal?

109.755 - 132.708 Leslie Parms (Witness who found the child)

My name is Leslie Parms. In 2016, I was driving for a company. I noticed a young lady, about three years old. She was standing in the parking lot about right here. She was kind of teary-eyed and distraught, and I asked her, I said, where's your mom? And she just kind of looked around, and I didn't see any adults out here with her, so I immediately called 911.

0

134.278 - 143.664 Police Officer

I have a child. How old are you, sweetheart? Three. She's three years old. She's in the parking lot standing here by herself with a pillow. No one's around. Can't find anyone. I need an officer.

0

145.025 - 152.569 Advertisement Narrator

It's then that Parms notices something alarming. The little girl isn't wearing shoes and there's blood on her feet.

0

153.029 - 159.793 Emergency Responder

You hurt your foot? That's why you're bleeding? Do I need to send medical attention that way? An ambulance? I don't think so.

0

159.813 - 179.86 Leslie Parms (Witness who found the child)

And I started asking her where's mommy's car. And she pointed to her mom's car, which her mom's car was on the other end of the parking lot, closer to the fire hydrant. It was a blue four-door sedan. And I approached the car, and I peeked through the window. Oh, my gosh. There's blood on the front seat of the car. OK.

179.88 - 183.643 Emergency Responder

Stay on the phone with me, OK? It's a sizable amount of blood.

183.943 - 185.564 Leslie Parms (Witness who found the child)

Something was really, really, really wrong.

186.404 - 191.688 Police Officer

The woman's keys and her purse are in the car. OK. It looks like one of the other pillows are in the car.

197.245 - 201.389 Advertisement Narrator

When police arrive, the little girl begins revealing more of her story.

Chapter 3: What do we know about Lintel Washington's personal and love life?

284.071 - 288.514 Friend of Luigi

Lantell Washington's nickname is Puffy. That was a name she had since her childhood.

0

289.434 - 294.717 Jamisha (Friend and Co-worker of Lintel)

She was loyal, dedicated, and hardworking.

0

296.018 - 302.702 Friend of Luigi

Very funny, very passionate, very kind person. We didn't call ourselves friends, we called ourselves sisters.

0

304.403 - 309.066 Jamisha (Friend and Co-worker of Lintel)

She was a great mother, very caring, very loving, and that was her whole entire world.

0

311.721 - 322.584 Former Student

I called her Ms. Washington. She was my eighth grade social studies teacher. She always had a bright smile every time we walked into the classroom.

324.264 - 334.406 Jamisha (Friend and Co-worker of Lintel)

What made her a good teacher? Her heart. You know, Lintel had a loving, caring heart. And no matter what those children did, no matter where they came from, she gave them everything she had.

334.987 - 340.348 Advertisement Narrator

But according to Lintel's closest friends, she felt something was missing from her life.

340.748 - 356.194 Friend of Luigi

She wanted love. She wanted a relationship. She wanted family. Lentel did not have any luck with men. I mean, probably none of us, but hers was just jaw-dropping, like crazy stuff.

356.994 - 371.238 Advertisement Narrator

When she was younger, there was a short-lived marriage. Then a promising relationship with her daughter's father, Darren Glasper, also crumbled. Was there talk of marriage and really making this permanent?

Chapter 4: Who is Robert Marks and what was his relationship with Lintel?

430.191 - 434.832 Former Student

Every time I see him in the hallway, he will always be like smiling and waving and saying hi.

0

435.153 - 438.794 Jamisha (Friend and Co-worker of Lintel)

He was a very nice, kind man.

0

439.094 - 447.016 Reporter

This is a guy from the north side of Baton Rouge who was successful. He had a PhD in education.

0

448.297 - 457.382 Advertisement Narrator

Lintel and Robert Marks began working at the middle school at about the same time. At what point did you know that she was interested in Robert Marks?

0

458.342 - 465.845 Friend of Luigi

She shows me a picture of him. And so I say, OK, he's nice looking. And she just started beaming like she started smiling.

466.745 - 477.208 Advertisement Narrator

But it seems that nobody at the school knows about the affair between the teacher and the assistant principal. Did you have any inkling that they had a relationship?

477.548 - 482.49 Jamisha (Friend and Co-worker of Lintel)

Not at all. Now, she did kind of say, I think he's so cute.

483.356 - 491.757 Advertisement Narrator

Turns out Dr. Marks is hiding more than an office romance. The thing is, Robert Marks is married.

492.398 - 494.858 Robert Marks' Wife (mentioned)

Had a wife, beautiful wife, beautiful kids.

Chapter 5: What clues and evidence surfaced after Lintel went missing?

654.208 - 657.069 Reporter

Lintel Washington is still considered missing tonight.

0

659.943 - 665.064 Reporter

The investigation started Thursday when Washington's three-year-old daughter was found wandering around a parking lot.

0

670.325 - 690.384 Advertisement Narrator

With her mother missing, that little girl, as you can hear on this police dash cam video, soon begins innocently revealing family secrets. Who learns that she's pregnant first? Does she reveal it to you? Oh yes, she did.

0

691.205 - 701.767 Jamisha (Friend and Co-worker of Lintel)

I'm two months pregnant. My baby looks so beautiful in my womb. She said, this baby is for Robert Marks.

0

702.067 - 709.069 Friend of Luigi

She's pregnant with Robert Marks' baby. Right. And I'm like, oh my goodness, what is he saying? And she tells me he's happy.

710.572 - 718.975 Advertisement Narrator

In Lintel's apartment, detectives will later find sonograms tracking her pregnancy, including one announcing, I'm a girl.

720.216 - 738.463 Friend of Luigi

She says, Dallin, that's the name. She said, oh, I love it. Then she tells it to Robert Marks. She texts me back and she says, girl, he loves the name. So he was excited about the name and he was excited about the pregnancy. So she was getting her family.

739.79 - 745.072 Advertisement Narrator

But then everything comes crashing down with one click of a mouse.

746.212 - 752.574 Investigator

Robert tells Lintel that he's going on a trip for a few days. He's going to Panama City to go to a family reunion.

Chapter 6: How did the police conduct the search for Lintel Washington?

846.945 - 855.071 Jamisha (Friend and Co-worker of Lintel)

Just keep it 100 with me. Do you really want me, or are you quitting to run away from your responsibilities with me and our unborn daughter?

0

858.777 - 871.764 Friend of Luigi

At some point, he suggests that they get together. She says, do you think I should meet him face to face? And I said, yes. Say, this way you'll know if he's lying. I said, look him in his face and see if he's lying.

0

873.044 - 885.271 Investigator

Just days later, Lintel is missing. Lintel Washington and her daughter lived in a one bedroom apartment very close to where Lintel's car was found.

0

886.795 - 897.927 Advertisement Narrator

So police want to know why Lintel would have parked there and why her daughter would have been left behind. It's that scared little girl who offers a crucial clue.

0

897.947 - 901.651 Police Officer

Mrs. Roddy did that blood? Mrs. Roddy did that blood?

904.833 - 911.795 Jamisha arriving at the scene

The police have no idea at that point who that person is until the friend and co-worker, Jamisha, shows up at the scene.

911.975 - 929.199 Jamisha (Friend and Co-worker of Lintel)

I said, Mr. Robbie from the school, Mr. Robbie? And she was shaking her head. Mr. Robbie is the name Lintel's daughter calls Robert Marks. I said to the police officer, they were in a relationship. I said, but he would be the first place that I would start.

931.934 - 937.978 Advertisement Narrator

Investigators know that the clock is ticking, so they waste no time in talking to Robert Marks.

943.181 - 949.145 Investigator

This is an urgent situation. They need to find Lintel Washington because she's clearly injured.

Chapter 7: What was discovered about Lintel Washington's death?

1015.508 - 1021.37 Interviewer

Does she ever threaten to talk to your wife?

0

1034.434 - 1041.139 Interviewer

He says, yes, I was with Lentel. And then afterwards, she went her separate ways and I went, hung out at a restaurant.

0

1043.921 - 1049.725 Interviewer

Where'd you go after you missed the bar?

0

1049.905 - 1053.948 Investigator

He tells police that the night before, he was watching the basketball game.

0

1053.968 - 1055.609 Reporter

At a local bar called Twin Peaks. She's not just missing.

1078.562 - 1086.127 Advertisement Narrator

It seems that Robert Marks was the last adult to see Lintel. But to know for sure, police need to find her.

1087.689 - 1091.972 Reporter

An active scene is unfolding as detectives search for Lintel Washington.

1093.542 - 1102.004 Advertisement Narrator

Using cell phone records, police determined that on the night she went missing, Lentell may have been across the Mississippi River in neighboring Iberville Parish.

Chapter 8: How is Lintel's family coping with the tragedy?

1105.985 - 1117.348 Reporter

It's remote, it's rural, it's farmland, it's sugarcane fields. It was a massive search effort. In the air, on ATVs, and on foot.

0

1120.734 - 1136.819 Advertisement Narrator

Chief Criminal Deputy Ronnie Hebert takes me to that rural area where his investigators were searching for the missing mom. You had heard there was a woman missing and a little child that was found. Right. Did your gut instinct tell you anything?

0

1136.839 - 1142.621 Deputy

I was hoping and praying that they would find her alive, but my gut instinct told me that she would probably be deceased.

0

1143.161 - 1144.202 Advertisement Narrator

How big is the search?

0

1144.502 - 1147.903 Deputy

This is a massive area. Cane fields, a lot of water.

1151.408 - 1159.833 Advertisement Narrator

Sheriff Brett Stacey launched a couple of boats to show us one of the first places he and his deputies thought to look. It's a place called Whiskey Bay.

1160.574 - 1185.299 Sheriff Brett Stacey

We were drawn here because of this place's history. You want to get rid of a body, this is a good place to go. In South Louisiana, with this heat and this humidity, a body will decompose very rapidly. That makes timing of finding the body, get it to the autopsy quick, and determine cause of death. Especially in a homicide case, time is important.

1187.6 - 1199.049 Advertisement Narrator

Authorities search and search and search. Finally, on the sixth day, they catch a break. Well, this is certainly off the beaten path.

1199.069 - 1202.271 Deputy

It is, really. As you see, all the cane they got, right?
