Day two of Marty Pass gone, the late trade for Continental Ties, AFL Trade Radio, and he's got his own stinger, Johnno. You haven't got your own stinger. No. It's getting serious now, John O.
Yeah. Well, you've got to bring the newcomers in and you know, you did you did it to me the last couple of years. You've got me in and got me stingers and now they disappear and Marty's time.
Nice little uh backy backdrop beat to that uh stinger too, Marty so again, just set us up here, but this is the first of your assessments of all eighteen football clubs and we're dubbing it Marty's metrics.
How does Marty's Metrics evaluate AFL clubs as player destinations?
Just give us a little snapshot of how this is going to look over the next two and a half weeks.
Absolutely, lad. So what I like to do and and again, when I was advising players, you'd you'd look at you'd look at some key act factors. So what are the key factors a player considers when choosing a club? A lot of people look at the list, uh, coaching, football program, their facilities, leadership and governance, who's in charge, president, board, um, how well everyone gets along, commercial and brand power, that's such a big role nowadays, is obviously understanding. understanding how how you can grow an individual brand and what they can do off the field, their ability to attract other talent, and then clearly their geography, you know, where they want to live, where they may have to live, their partners, etc.
And and obviously await that accordingly.
And I've got a little sleek preview of what you're about to do with here with the Crows and I can see that uh a bit like the grand final coaches votes, uh there's weighting given to certain categories over others.
Absolutely. So uh the key component here, playing list, coaching, football programming facilities make up fifty percent of it 'cause that's obviously a a key component to the decision. Leadership, governance, uh commercial brand power, the next thirty percent. And the last twenty percent is made up of talent, attraction and the and the geography.
And then you're gonna flush all that through, come up with a a mark out of one hundred with your various weightings. Yes. And then at the end of it all we're gonna be uh raking these clubs uh on the Marty's metric ladder.
Absolutely. And where you're looking for clubs and their age uh where they're looking players and and their agents where to send their their best talent um and where to go. So All right, here we go. All right, here we go. Here we go. Here we go.
The inaugural Marty's metrics. Alphabetical order. Alphabetical order. I like that. People can realise when your team is coming up, but this is this scientific Marty Pasque assessment under Marty's metrics of your club, the Adelaide Crows.
Great.
How strong is Adelaide's playing list, and where does its midfield need improvement?
So playing list, um, first and foremost with the Adelaide Crows. Uh Philthorpe, Rankin, Dawson, Warrell and Emerging Curtain. So strong spine and call. Uh room for improvement with their midfield depth and second gear against elite finalists remains obviously their next challenge. Do you agree with
that, Jotter?
Yeah, and that
has been the talk for the last um couple of years, hasn't it? It was identified in the in twenty twenty five final series about their midfield um and being uh one or two plays short in that area. They've tried to fill it a little bit with curtain, especially in the back half of the season and playing in an inside mid tight role played on Bonton Pally uh in that uh in that final for periods as as well. So they've tried to fix that internally.
And so out of ten, Marty, wi with the waiting still to come, but out of ten you've given that the playing list a a what? A seven.
How do Adelaide's coaching, football program, and facilities attract players?
Done. Coaching, football program and facilities are next up.
So this is really impressive from Adelaide. So Matthew Nick, seven years as senior coach, they went and got Murray Davis uh as the coaching director.
