Hey, what's going on? Welcome to Jay's Top Plus. Only two hours today. Busy deadline yesterday while we were on the show. Busy deadline after we got off air. As well, the Blue Jays very, very active. Then they won a game 3-1 against the Astros to draw within four games. of the wildcard. Their playoff odds sit today at 6.7%, and maybe you thought we would stop mentioning that come August 4th, but the Blue Jays did this sort of hybrid sell and buy at the deadline. Now, I think a lot of that is with an eye toward 2027 and 2028, but... On paper, they're not that much worse, if at all, today than they were yesterday. And they've traded the highest name in their farm system or the buzziest name in their farm system, other than maybe JoJo Parker, for different pieces who maybe slotted a little lower in the farm system.
But you could certainly... Look at this and see, yeah, it's a buy and a sell, but you're not in that worship position today. They did not trade Max Scherzer and Shane Bieber and George Springer, Miles Straw, Jesus Sanchez, veteran pending free agents, or in Sanchez's case, a likely non-tender candidate. So they kept those guys around, and they brought in Jose Soriano, who is controllable, and that's the main draw. but he's also ambular and pretty good right now, and we'll slot into Kevin Gosman's spot. They added Jamison Tyon for starting pitching depth. Spencer Arrighetti is on the IL right now, but would presumably be starting or swing man depth the rest of the way as well. We'll see what Josh Smith is, if he's anything other than a flyer, but a lot to sort through on the Major League side, a lot to sort through on the prospect side.

Yeah, I think I was talking to my kids. I wrote up 15 different trades over the course of yesterday. So yeah, it was pretty chaotic, particularly just trying to get, they tend to come in bunches. They're not well spaced out throughout the day. That would be great. But several trades would hit at once. And so we had a big internal Slack channel with most of our baseball writers ducking in and out and putting it some guys were responding for our live blog but it was a lot of or i'm hearing half of this here's this part of the trade and i have to basically for what i do wait for the entire trade to come through i've had plenty of times in my career where i've written something up and it turned out you had to junk some of it because it wasn't accurate um as for soundtrack i actually threw on uh spotify's release radar and i know spotify's evil sorry
Unfortunately, the algorithm knows me extremely well. And so I really do appreciate that. Most of the playlists I listen to on there are curated by humans. The release radar is the one algorithmic one where I'm like, okay, yeah, that's actually you got me. They just totally, totally get it.
Yeah, that's a tough one. I always run into that on Instagram too when the targeted ads are like really well targeted. I'm like, ah, this is... I don't like the surveillance state that we live in, but it is sometimes effective. The one that really gets me, though, is when I get an ad for something I've already purchased, and it's like, you know enough data about me to know that I would be interested in this, but not that I already got it? Come on. Okay, so release radar gets you through.
