Hey, this is Allie, and thanks for listening to the show. Give us a five-star review where you listen and share this episode with someone who might need to hear it. Now, enjoy the show.
Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. You're listening to another edition of DIY Money.
DIY Money.
Hey, Howard, how are you doing this morning at 8.21 a.m.?
Not good, Quint. This is what you have to understand about morning. So for context, we usually cut this show around 10, so I have time to wake up and be fired up and in a good mood. and Quint was like, oh, tomorrow, let's cut a bunch of podcasts. Let's just come in at 8. And Logan was like, 8's great. And here I am dying.
I am preparing for some travel extended period of time, and we needed to cut a bunch of podcasts. So what do you do? The early bird gets the worm. And Allie, you know, Logan and I high-fiving, all right, we'll see you at 5 a.m. club. Woo-woo.
What should I know before hiring a financial advisor?
Allie's like, 8? We got to do 8?
Be there, ready to get fired up at 8.
The early bird can have the worm. I'll be napping in the sunbeam.
That's the equivalent of me being like, hey, Quint, let's call it a podcast at midnight. What do you think?
It would be terrible. See?
Don't you pity me right now?
Yeah, I'm surprised. I just, you know, you continue to shock me sometimes. I'm like, again, you know, here we are. We talk. taxes and accounting. And then you're like, I'm going mountain biking in Maldives or whatever, blah, blah, blah. I'm going to backpack through the Himalayas. And I'm like, what? Who are you? And then at the same time, you'll subject yourself to 40 degree camping weather. You're like, I don't do mornings. I'm like, what?
You have to draw the line somewhere.
But these boxes don't compute to me. I would think camping, adventure, outdoor is a morning person. I just figure that's a morning person. And then camping, outdoor, adventure slash morning person is not an accountant. It's so interesting to me. You have these weird boxes that I like. They don't necessarily line up. But that's what I love about you, A. Howard. Thank you. You always knew how to make me smile. All right, let's cut to the chase. We've got some housekeeping odds and ends. Follow us on social, DIY Money Podcast. This podcast also sponsored by Juul Financial. It's obviously very important to say our day job, if you will, is we are fiduciary advisors for a company called Juul, J-O-U-L-E Financial.
And if you have a complex situation, you needed a second opinion or possibly to speak to an advisor, financials. Follow us or hit us up on the web, joulefinancial.com. Learn more about our firm and possibly reach out for a meeting. We've got a good question today actually about that very subject matter. I actually forgot about it. That wasn't intentional, me rolling into that.
For a second, I thought you meant about morning people.
No, no. We've moved on. Oh, boy. I'm still waking up. All right. We do have a good question about getting an advisor. But before we get to that question, let us pause for a word from our sponsors that make this show possible. All right. Thank you for pause. Again, those sponsors make this show possible. So we really appreciate you listening to those sponsorship ads, I guess. All right. Let's go right to our question from Alex. What do you got?
Hey, DIY money gang. To start, thanks for all the information that you have provided over the years. And hopefully you can help me out with this bit of fact finding that I'm trying to do. I know that you guys have covered this, but I'm hoping that you can group all the information that I'm asking for into just one response here. So my question being, what should I ask someone if I'm looking to hire them as a financial advisor, such as the questions that I should be bringing up to them? Thanks for your help and have a good one.
Okay, Alex, this is a good one, and obviously right in our wheelhouse. So I'll share a few things. I'll be curious what Allie has to say after being in the business the last couple of years and what she has gleaned from this. The first and foremost, I'm going to box them into two.
