We've got... everything there, sleep stories, soundscapes, fucking challenges, 21 days to form a habit challenges on there, absolutely everything. So go check it out, notesonthemind.substack.com. Now this episode today, is all about the neuroscience of intrusive thoughts so by the end of this episode you're going to understand exactly what intrusive thoughts are and why they are happening i'm going to tell you the difference between intrusive thoughts for like the everyday person versus ocd where it becomes something that feels extremely uncontrollable and i'm going to explain why what that difference is
Alexis Fernandez-Preiksa 1:46
And then I'm going to be giving you actual tools on how to deal with intrusive thoughts. So it doesn't feel like it's taking over your life or your day. So it doesn't feel really uncomfortable. And so you don't feel, a lot of people do feel shame around these intrusive thoughts because it feels so kind of out of character to be thinking these things and then it makes them question their fucking existence, okay? So we're going to be talking about that. I do have a brain fact today on Broca's area, which is a specific part of the brain. I'm going to be talking about Broca's aphasia and how that also is related to the stutter as well. But before we do that... Two things. I've got a little takeaway slash recommendation and a life update.
Alexis Fernandez-Preiksa 2:24
So my takeaway slash recommendation, I'm going to start really trying to do this every single episode. I think I brought this in probably two years ago and after two episodes, I forgot, but we're back stronger than ever. And my recommendation is the podcast maintenance phase. This podcast has been going on for years and I'm sure many of you hopefully already listened to it, but it is so good. It is basically the two hosts, which is Aubrey Gordon and Mike Hobbs, They are hilarious. The way they articulate themselves, they're so witty and funny. They're great hosts of a podcast and they discuss kind of fad diets and anything around kind of the weight loss industry that's taken the world by storm and then they discuss why it's so fucking unhinged in the funniest way possible.

So definitely go check it out if you haven't already. I love them. Unfortunately, they only release probably one episode a month if that happens. But I hang out for each episode. And then my life update. My mental health can finally restabilize because the World Cup has finished. And it was just the biggest roller coaster of emotions for me. If you guys know, I am Argentinian. My father is Argentinian, so I'm half Arjo. but I'm also Uruguayan and Spanish. So I had a bit of a conflict in the final, but I always do even like, I love Spain so much. I'm a Spanish citizen, love Spain. But when it comes to football specifically, I am a diehard Argentina supporter. And the reason for that is because growing up, my father was always such a big fan and he really instilled this love for the Argentinian football side and my sister and I, and for whatever reason, we just get severe anxiety every time we watch Argentina play.
