It's not over yet. I'm Paul Stevens, Fox News. That nor'easter still slamming the East Coast did claim at least one life to date. Police say a 56-year-old man was killed by a falling tree in New York City. Meantime, thousands of travelers have delayed plans. Many facing flight cancellations. That nor'easter continues to pound the Northeast with wind and heavy rain. Fox's C.B. Cotton at New York's LaGuardia Airport.
New York State, New Jersey and Connecticut are all expected to get more rain as the day goes on. And New York Governor Kathy Hochul says with tonight's full moon, it could create an even worse situation with coastal flooding and powerful rough surf.
We expect waves as tall as 20 feet in some areas. Winds will be just as powerful as the waves. Wind gusts exceeding 50, even 60 miles an hour have already been recorded on Long Island.
But the most significant impacts are expected in New England. Boston and coastal Massachusetts are facing pounding rain, street flooding, and wind gusts that could reach up to 60 miles an hour later today.
Meantime, in the Pacific, Hurricane Nolo is running parallel to the Hawaiian Islands. Fox Weather's Robert Ray on the Big Island with more.
Hurricane Nolo, a Category 2 right now, spinning at about 140 miles to the south of us, and it made its turn to the west, so it will track parallel. with the hawaiian islands we expect a lot more rain to come in and that is a big concern on the big island also in maui as well we do expect a lot more rain to come and that is why the island nation of hawaii is hunkering down the county here telling people to stay inside do not go out today as we're seeing emergency officials flanked up and down the roadways and big wind gusts coming in
Again, Robert Ray with the Fox Weather Channel. And America's listening to Fox News. President Trump meeting earlier this week with China's President Xi Jinping.
President Trump says that Chinese President Xi Jinping agrees that Iran should never have a nuclear weapon. That was during this week's three-day U.S.-China summit here in D.C. But the two did not spend much time talking about things like Taiwan or even AI, according to the president. That is because he says in Taiwan she knows the U.S. position and that that's not changing. Now, for AI, both the U.S. and China have agreed to set up a communication channel for AI-related incidents, except they won't be calling it artificial intelligence, but superintelligence.
It's a much more accurate name, because when you say the other, it means it's fake. Artificial means it's fake, and it's not fake.
Now, SI or AI will be the main focus, at least it is set to be, when President Trump and President Xi meet again in November.
And that's Fox's Alexandria Hoff at the White House. Pope Leo, given a big, large welcome during his trip to France, as an estimated half million people fill the place of harmony in Paris. Fox's Lauren Green is there.
The unstated theme of this trip is renewal. This morning, the Pope visited a small social service agency named after a Sudanese convert, Saint Josephine Bakhita, and later a musical welcome at the Catholic Institute of Paris to meet new Catholics. Nearly 80,000 young people gave the Pope a rock star welcome, a real-time proof that Catholicism is growing among young adults as the dazzling show embraced the imagery of France's most well-known young saints, like the 15th century Joan of Arc. With the title of the pilgrimage that the world may have life, Leo, the first American pope, is stressing controlling artificial intelligence and upholding the value of human life from conception to the grave. A theme directed at a country's politically liberal bent where assisted suicide is now law.
And again, Fox's Lauren Green in Paris. Pope Leo said to hold a mass at the Lord's Shrine coming up tomorrow on Sunday. I'm Paul Stevens. This is Fox News.
