Chapter 1: Who has President Trump nominated for the Federal Reserve Chairman?
President Trump has found the new head for the Fed. I'm Dave Anthony, Fox News. We should have the lowest interest rate anywhere in the world. They should be two points and even three points lower.
And now President Trump has nominated a replacement for Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, Kevin Walsh, a former Fed governor and current Stanford University business professor who last year called for regime change at the Fed. The president just posting on Truth Social, Walsh will never let you down.
Kevin Walsh is somebody that the president has known for several years. He served in an economic advisory capacity during his first term. He's now been nominated by the president to succeed Jerome Powell when his term ends in May. We all know the back and forth there, some of the frustration the president has had with Powell when it comes to interest rates.
Chapter 2: What lawsuit has President Trump filed against the IRS?

The president is also suing one of his own government agencies, filing a $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS over leaks of his tax records that were made public. In the anger and protests over immigration enforcement in Minnesota, there is a call for people across America to ice out today. Skip work or school. Don't shop.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem tells Fox Democratic leaders should... "...change their rhetoric because it is encouraging the kind of violence that we see on their streets today."
Democrats in Congress are demanding ICE reforms, and as Fox's Bill Mellugian reports from the Capitol, that could shut the government down again.
Here's what's at stake here. 78% of the federal government is going to run out of funding tonight at 11.59 p.m. The Senate is considering a package of six funding bills to fix that, including that DHS funding bill.
Chapter 3: What are the implications of the immigration protests in Minnesota?
But both House and Senate Democrats say they will not vote for that bill because it funds ICE and doesn't reform the agency.
There's a compromise being worked out to fund everything but DHS through September and give Homeland Security just two weeks of funding, but that's unlikely to be approved before tonight's deadline. Israel is going to reopen a border crossing between Gaza and Egypt closed for almost two years. Days after recovering the last dead hostage, Hamas captured in a terror attack in 2023.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum says her government had temporarily stopped oil shipments to Cuba, while adding it was a sovereign decision not made under pressure from the White House. In the wake of this month's ouster of former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Trump has said the Cuban government is ready to fall. Tom Rigotti, Fox News.
On Wall Street, stock futures are falling ahead of today's trading. Days before the Winter Olympics start in Italy, an American skier making a comeback, Lindsey Vonn, who won gold in 2010. is injured.
She crashed today in her final race ahead of the Olympics and injured her left knee. After treatment on the course, Vaughn slowly skied to the finish line and then limped to a tent where she got medical attention and then was airlifted from the course. Her participation in the coming Olympics now in question as she is scheduled for her first race February 8th.
Vaughn had retired from the sport for nearly six years before she began to come back competing with a partial titanium implant in her knee.
