How did a childhood vision exercise reveal unrealistic expectations for my 20s?

Devoney Kodad 0:00
Hey love, I am so glad you're here. Alrighty. So I have flashback a couple of times to this really fun reflection exercise. I don't know what it was for. It was in like fifth or sixth grade. Okay. Imagine little fifth grade dev. Okay. And they ask you to vision out your life. how wildly different it is than how life has unfolded. But let me share it with you. Let me share it with you. And so here's what I had envisioned. I don't know what the career was. I think it was like a teacher. I wanted to be a teacher or something like that.

Why is feeling lost or behind in your twenties actually okay?

Devoney Kodad 0:37
and I wanted to be a teacher and by 27 oh sweet little dev by 27 I was going to be married and starting to have my one of three children and then by like 30 early 30s by 32 I would have all three of my children and oh life oh life life life I just want to encourage you I've been having so many conversations with beautiful humans around me just about how life unfolds. Life unfolds so differently than how we expect. And this idea of, I don't know what I'm doing, right? This is what I'm having. I'm hearing this around me. I don't know what I'm doing. I'm feeling like I don't know where I'm going. What is the game plan here? Like everything's just changing around me. I don't know what the plan is. Where am I headed? I just want to let you know that is okay.

What does ‘one step at a time’ look like when trusting God’s timing?

Devoney Kodad 1:34
That is okay. It is fully okay to be taking it one step at a time. That is my motto in life. One step at a time, one day at a time. I ask God to just guide me one step at a time, and that is okay. So I just want to encourage you to give yourself so much grace if you feel like life is unfolding in a crazy way. Or you just don't know what's happening. You don't know what's next. You don't know what's going on. Love. That is okay. That is life. And just trusting that God...

How can I give myself grace and trust that God has a bigger plan?

Devoney Kodad 2:11
Trusting that God has infinitely more for you than you can even imagine and trusting what he's doing, why he's doing it, when he's doing it. Okay. You are okay. You are in his hands. Hey, love.
