How does the host greet and set the intention for a prayer for overwhelmed women?

Devoney Kodad 0:00
Hey, beautiful friend. How are you? I hope you're having a lovely day. So I am sitting down to record this podcast and I just really felt just this urge, this conviction to share something with you. A permission slip or a prayer, if you will. And this is specifically for the woman who feels like she is trying to hold it all together. You do so much. You work extremely hard and you do it well. You are succeeding. You are doing well at work. People say you're doing an awesome job. In your personal life, you seem like, oh my gosh, yes, she's doing great. She's thriving, right? but underneath you're tired. You are tired and it feels like there is so much pressure of who you need to be, how you need to show up.
Devoney Kodad 1:09
Almost I'm picturing this like this box, like this box or the shape that you feel like you need to morph into and to fit into to keep it together, to look like You're doing great and life is great, but it's this pressured feeling like you're trying to fit into this mold of doing everything well, not letting anything drop, not upsetting anyone, not disappointing anyone. You need to keep it all together. And as I was sitting with that, the Bible verse that came up for me, it's actually a Bible verse in a specific translation that I remember learning. in my yoga teacher training a couple years ago because it was a Christ-centered program.

What does the host describe as the hidden exhaustion behind a woman’s outward success?

Devoney Kodad 1:58
And I did it through Living Soul Institute. It was phenomenal. So I'm just going to read you this verse. It's in the voice translation. And it is Matthew 11, 28 through 30. Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Put my yoke upon your shoulders. It might appear heavy at first, but it is perfectly fitted to your curves. Learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart. When you are yoked to me, your weary soul will find rest. My yoke is easy and my burden is light. I'm going to read that one more time. And I want you to just notice what speaks to you, a specific verse or phrase. So this is actually turning into kind of a Lectio Divina a little bit, which if you haven't heard of that practice, it's a beautiful practice of, it's an ancient, ancient Christian contemplative practice.
Devoney Kodad 3:19
where you read a couple bible verses or a specific segment of the word multiple times so instead of reading an entire chapter you would choose a little segment of the chapter or specific verses to read three times and there's a specific intention with each time so that's kind of what this is turning into a little but just wanted to reference that so let's go ahead and we're gonna we're gonna read this one more time together come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest put my yoke upon your shoulders it might appear heavy at first but it is perfectly fitted to your curves learn from me for I am gentle and humble of heart When you are yoked to me, your weary souls will find rest.

My yoke is easy and my burden is light.

And I want you to just notice which little verse or phrase stood out the most to you. And then I'd actually love to guide you through a little breath prayer. And if you haven't already explored breath prayers in one of our recent episodes, a breath prayer is where we choose a little phrase or a verse and we pair it with our breath as sort of a mindfulness, mindfulness practice, the beautiful mindfulness practice where we're also tuning into the word, getting connected with God. So for me, what's standing out here is this verse of, My yoke is easy, my burden is light. But also the part around your weary soul will find rest. I don't know about you, but as someone who... is so ambitious and has so many goals and so much vision and right i love doing everything very well right and i know this is who this message is for is for exactly you who are struggling with this as well it's i i'm picturing these closed fists you are white knuckling you are pushing you are forcing
Devoney Kodad 5:57
things to happen you are pushing yourself in every moment it's feeling like this very forced exhausting experience of trying to make things happen looking like you have it all together making sure it seems like you've got it all figured out having it all figured out right and when i picture that i just picture this very like hands are closed
